East St. Louis high school football will welcome Newton football for a Friday night football clash in Illinois. East St. Louis, currently ranked No. 28 in the country by High School Football America, heads into the matchup 1-0 after defeating Loyola Academy on Sunday, 34-7.

Mallard Creek (NC) will welcome Grayson (GA) to Charlotte for a top high school football match.

Good Counsel football has moved from No. 16 to No. 10 in the country, according to High School Football America. The Falcons, from Maryland, defeated Columbus (FL) last week, 14-10. All the scoring took place in the first half, and on special teams, except for one offensive touchdown by GC on the first play of the game.

Mater Dei, Bishop Gorman, and St. John Bosco continue to lead the high school football rankings, while Good Counsel and DeSoto move up after strong wins. GC plays DePaul this week.

DeSoto High School football will play their first game of the season, when they host Creekside high school football out of Georgia. DeSoto, who is the undisputed best HS football team in Texas, has won back-to-back state championships and currently sits at No. 6 in the High School Football America 300.

St. Frances Academy football (Maryland) and St. Joseph Regional (New Jersey) will meet in one of the best nationally-ranked high school matchups of the week.

High School football is underway and some elite teams are already making a statement, while others are already getting knocked off. while No. 1 and No. 2 ranked teams Mater Dei and Bishop Gorman won the next two teams faltered. Chaminade-Madonna lost to No. 5 St. John Bosco and IMG Academy lost to No. 35 Corner Canyon. IMG dropped to No. 10, while Chaminate-Madonna drops just two spots to No. 4.

Don Bosco Prep football will begin their season with a face-off against Hoban high school football in Akron, OH.

In a non-region clash between DC and Ohio, Gonzaga High School football will face Springfield football on August 30.

Good Counsel football from Olney, Maryland, will face off against the Columbus Explorers from Miami, Florida, in an exciting non-region high school football matchup.

Red Bank Catholic will head to Middletown to take on the No. 2 high school football team in Delaware, according to MaxPreps. The game will be an early-season non-region test for both programs.

St. Frances Academy football only went 5-6 last year, inarguably an off year -- but the program is still so respected in the high school football landscape, they landed at No. 51 in High School Football America's national rankings to end 2023.

Archbishop Hoban will go up against one of the top-rated quarterback recruits in the nation when they host Archbishop Spalding at Dowed Field in Akron on Friday, August 23.

IMG Academy football will have as stout test right out of the gate when they take on Corner Canyon football, out of Utah, on Thursday, August 22.

Monarch Knights football will host the Peachtree Ridge Lions on Thursday, August 22, in their first non-region match up of the high school football season. The Knights, from Coconut Creek, Florida, made it to their state championship semifinals last season before losing, and finished last season 11-3.
