With the Texas Longhorns coming in at No. 1 in the first 2025 Division I Coach’s Poll, FloCollege decided to rank the top Division II football teams in the state of Texas.

The Angelo State Rams are looking to follow up on a 9-3 season and 9-0 Lone Star Conference outing with another undefeated conference season in 2025, and are set up for success to do so.

The UT Permian Basin Falcons are looking to continue their historic streak of success, having back-to-back winning seasons for the first time in program history. Seven wins is also the second-most in program history, and the Falcons almost had eight, but fell 39-37 to Central Missouri in the Heritage Bowl in double overtime.

Delta State Football met an unfortunate fate in 2024 in the wake of a 2023 season that saw a NCAA DII Playoffs berth. The Statesmen shifted from a 10-2 overall record to 6-4 in 2024 along with the team’s quarterbacks.

The Western Oregon Wolves are looking to make a splash in the Lone Star Conference in 2025 after all six of their wins came in conference play, leading to a 6-5, 6-3 season.

The landscape of NCAA Division II football has the potential to look a lot different this fall.

After falling in the first round of the 2024 NCAA DII Playoffs, the Angelo State Rams are looking forward to an impressive 2025 Lone Star Football outing, especially with quarterback Braeden Fuller returning for his final season.

Delta State's 2023 quarterback Patrick Shegog left the Statesmen off on a promising ending, taking the squad to the second round of NCAA Division II Playoffs after throwing for 2,618 yards and over 30 touchdowns.

The Delta State Statesmen are heading into their 13th year under head coach Todd Cooley, who seemed to have found his rhythm with his 2022-2023 class, but lost it last season. The team went 6-4 overall, 3-3 in conference to follow up a 2023 season that saw a 10-2 record and NCAA Division II Playoffs berth.

The West Texas A&M Buffaloes are hoping that their 2025 signing class can help lead them to victory, as they have not had a winning season since 2021 and lost many key players following a 5-7 2024 season.

The Central Washington Wildcats are looking to win the Lone Star Conference in 2025 after going 8-4 in 2024 and barely missing out on the championship. Their two conference losses came by as many points as they were upset by the UT Permian Basin Falcons and then lost to the eventual champions in Angelo State.
