After falling in the first round of the 2024 NCAA DII Playoffs, the Angelo State Rams are looking forward to an impressive 2025 Lone Star Football outing, especially with quarterback Braeden Fuller returning for his final season.

Fuller led the team in rushing with 678 yards and 10 touchdowns and passing, with 2,318 yards and 19 touchdowns, and is set to have an even bigger senior season with several offensive weapons returning.

Fuller is returning his top running back in Jayden Jones, who ran for 315 yards and five touchdowns. Brayden Wilcox and Cameron Dischler are also returning, and they combined for 517 yards and five touchdowns.

In the air, Dischler led the way with receiving touchdowns, hauling in four for 256 yards receiving. Zeek Freeman is returning for his senior season, and as a junior, caught 14 passes for 312 yards and two touchdowns. 

Fuller led the show on offense and will likely do the same in 2025, hoping to lead the Rams past the first round of NCAA DII Playoffs. On defense, Xavier Walton is the top returning tackler, and he had 45 total tackles, one tackle for loss, two interceptions, three pass breakups, two fumble recoveries, and one forced fumble.

Defensive lineman Owen Seaver is the next returning tackler, and he had 41 tackles, 6.5 tackles for loss and 2.5 sacks for 15 yards. 

Though the offense has more returning players than the defense, the Angelo State Rams will still be in good shape for the 2025 season, as head coach Jeff Girsch knows how to win and is going into his seventh year at the head of the program. 

Girsch has transformed the Rams into a consistent national championship contender, and though they lost in the first round of the 2024 playoffs, he is looking to take his team farther and he has the right formula to do so. Despite losing in non-conference play in 2024, Girsch’s team went undefeated in conference play, claiming their second Lone Star title in the last three seasons.
