Here Are The Best Quarterbacks In D2 Football Right Now
Who are the best QBs in D2 football right now? The FloQ Index was built to answer that question, combining passing, rushing, and scoring to find playmakers.

This morning I woke up and said to myself, "Who are the best quarterbacks in D2 football?"
Now, I could've slapped together a list by looking at QB Rating. I also could've just thrown darts at a wall with names on it, or I could've even chosen the top quarterbacks based on how much social media wrath they'd inspire.

But I don't think passing yards and touchdowns paints the full picture of D2 quarterback-dom, where the breadth and variety of signal-callers includes everything from volume passers to triple-option maestros.
D2 football is a different beast and I wanted this metric to accommodate for high-volume gunslingers and rushing quarterbacks while normalizing workload.
So, I went into the laboratory and put together a secret recipe that will be known as the FloQ index.

Top 10 Quarterbacks in D2 Football By FloQ Index
The FloQ Index, short for Field Level Offensive Quality, measures total offensive impact, blending passing efficiency, scoring production, and rushing value into one comprehensive rating for Division 2 quarterbacks.
- FloQ > +1.5 -> Elite offensive performer
- FloQ 0 to +1.5 -> Strong contributor
- FloQ < 0 -> Below-average
FloQ ratings are based on official NCAA statistics and include only quarterbacks meeting NCAA minimum requirements.
10. Andrew Edwards, Henderson State
FloQ Rating: 1.4
- Pass Efficiency: 151
- Pass Yards: 1,499
- Pass TDs: 13
- Rush Yards: 317
- Rush TDs: 4
- Total TDs: 17
Andrew Edwards has been slinging touchdowns in Arkansas since 2022, and it's no surprise to find him on this list, though, by the end, you may be surprised who he's ahead of. Henderson State is off to a blistering start, at 5-1, and has the potential to put up a fight when they take on Harding on Oct. 18.
9. RJ Martinez, West Texas A&M
FloQ Rating: 1.5
- Pass Efficiency: 153
- Pass Yards: 1,861
- Pass TDs: 12
- Rush Yards: 156
- Rush TDs: 5
- Total TDs: 17
RJ Martinez transferred to WTAMU from Texas State and has put up big numbers for the Buffs so far this year, after he got the nod in a crowded quarterback room. Martinez's passing has become vastly more efficient as the season has gone on and has steered the Buffaloes to a 3-1 conference record in the dog-eat-dog LSC.
8. Marcus Stokes, West Florida
FloQ Rating: 1.6
- Pass Efficiency: 164
- Pass Yards: 1,780
- Pass TDs: 18
- Rush Yards: 108
- Rush TDs: 5
- Total TDs: 23
No surprise here. We knew Marcus Stokes was going to have a big year when he dropped 6 touchdowns in Week 1 against Lenoir-Rhyne. After a bumpy start against Kentucky Wesleyan, where he threw nearly half of his interceptions for the season, Stokes has West Florida in championship contender territory. Stokes is still just a sophomore and this is his first full year at the helm.

7. Spencer Arceneaux, West Alabama
FloQ Rating: 1.7
- Pass Efficiency: 157
- Pass Yards: 1,038
- Pass TDs: 12
- Rush Yards: 380
- Rush TDs: 7
- Total TDs: 19
After starting his career at Nebraska, Spencer Arceneaux has established himself as one of the best dual-threat quarterbacks in D2 over three seasons at West Alabama. His place in this Top 10 shows how we're trying to balance efficiency with volume. He's not a high-volume passer but he's thrown 1 interception this year and has 7 rushing touchdowns this season. This week, UWA takes on West Florida.
6. Jack Strand, MSU Moorhead
FloQ Rating: 1.8
- Pass Efficiency: 136
- Pass Yards: 2,293
- Pass TDs: 24
- Rush Yards: 122
- Rush TDs: 3
- Total TDs: 27
As far as pure talent, there aren't many better quarterbacks in the D2 than Jack Strand. I have evangelized just how good Jack Strand is throughout this season. He leads all D2 quarterbacks in passing yards, passing touchdowns, as well as total touchdowns, and he's certainly pulling his weight at MSU Moorhead to take the team to a very respectable 5-2 record.
But Strand is also leading in attempts by a mile, and is not immune to interceptions, given the volume he's throwing at. This year, he already has 11 in seven games, where he threw 13 in 11 games last year. It shows how we've tried to balance the FloQ Index.

5. Drew Nash, Western Colorado
FloQ Rating: 1.8
- Pass Efficiency: 183
- Pass Yards: 1,236
- Pass TDs: 17
- Rush Yards: 198
- Rush TDs: 6
- Total TDs: 23
Drew Nash has quietly been one of the most efficient quarterbacks in the country, and yet, Western Colorado has a very-not-quiet 6-0 record. Where in the past two seasons, Nash was throwing about 30 times per game, this year, he's only throwing 26 passes a game, and his touchdowns and yardage are way up. He's also run in 6 touchdowns himself, which always helps.
4. Gavin Sukup, Indianapolis
FloQ Rating: 1.9
- Pass Efficiency: 181
- Pass Yards: 1,922
- Pass TDs: 19
- Rush Yards: 255
- Rush TDs: 3
- Total TDs: 22
Gavin Sukup is almost the perfect monster. This year he's combining high volume with efficiency and accuracy. Through seven games, he's thrown 199 passes with 144 completions (73%) with only 4 interceptions. He's tossing a 311 yards per game and has 22 total touchdowns. High volume, high output, low waste -- dude's a metronome.
3. Tre Robinson, UNC Pembroke
FloQ Rating: 2.0
- Pass Efficiency: 182
- Pass Yards: 1,582
- Pass TDs: 19
- Rush Yards: 333
- Rush TDs: 5
- Total TDs: 24
Having Tre Robinson this high might surprise some people, especially with five interceptions on the stat sheet. But FloQ doesn’t punish quarterbacks for calculated risk — the payoff matters.
Robinson has thrown a touchdown on nearly 12 percent of his passes, one of the best marks in Division 2. He also ranks fourth nationally in passing efficiency and brings true dual-threat value, adding five rushing touchdowns to his total this season.
2. Kyle Walljasper, Minnesota Duluth
FloQ Rating: 2.1
- Pass Efficiency: 179
- Pass Yards: 1,423
- Pass TDs: 13
- Rush Yards: 379
- Rush TDs: 9
- Total TDs: 22
Kyle Walljasper is one of the reasons the FloQ exists. While he’s a strong passer — posting a 179 efficiency rating and over 1,400 passing yards — he’s multi-dimensional in ways that traditional stat lines can miss.
He’s added nine rushing touchdowns, bringing his total to 22, and piled up nearly 400 rushing yards along the way. At 6'1", 240 pounds, Walljasper is built like a wildebeest and capable of punishing opposing defenses.
1. Wyatt Bower, Ferris State
FloQ Rating: 2.3
- Pass Efficiency: 192
- Pass Yards: 1,140
- Pass TDs: 12
- Rush Yards: 471
- Rush TDs: 8
- Total TDs: 20
When I set out to make the FloQ, I really didn't think Wyatt Bower would be at the top. But when you start to look at his numbers, it's pretty incredible what he's done as a first year starter for the defending champions. Bower has 20 total touchdowns, but his usage is relatively low compared to other teams -- in part because he's capable of running up the score early in games.
His 192 passer efficiency is so outrageous it sent me digging through the dusty D2 records. To put it in perspective: Curt Anes (GVSU) once posted a 221.6 rating (on at least 100 completions), and Dusty Bonner (Valdosta) posted 196.5 (on 200+ completions). But when you consider that Bower is in his first full season as a redshirt freshman, and factor in what he's doing on the ground. Well, we're in rare air, folks.
It's also worth mentioning, he's replacing a predecessor who's currently torching the FCS (in Trinidad Chambliss). FloQ was built to find the quarterbacks who tilt the field, and right now, that’s Bower.
