Here's Every Undefeated Team Left In D2 Football; When They Could Lose Next
Only 12 undefeated teams remain in D2 football. Here’s who’s still perfect — and the matchups most likely to end their streaks.

A week ago, 16 teams in Division 2 football were undefeated. Seven days and a few bruising Saturdays later, only 12 remain standing. This past week, giants like Angelo State were felled, along with Walsh, California (PA) and Post.

If the top four teams in the current FloCollege Top 25 continue their spotless trajectory, with the expanded format and changes to super regions, there is a possibility they may not meet until the final four, the D2 national championship semifinals.
But there are obstacles ahead, and the longer the trail, the more horses stumble.
Some of these unbeatens will face their biggest tests in the week ahead, or in rivalry showdowns or later, conference-title deciders. Others may cruise through the fall only to run into a heavyweight in the expanded postseason.
Here’s every unbeaten team left in Division 2 football — and the matchups most likely to spoil their perfect seasons.
Undefeated Teams In D2 Football
Here is every undefeated team left in Division 2 football, as we head into Week 7 of the season.
Ferris State (5-0) – FloCollege No. 1
- Wins: Pittsburg State, Lake Erie, Tiffin, Rio Grande, Roosevelt
Next Big Test: The defending national champs haven’t lost since their first game last season, against Pitt State, a loss they avenged in their season-opener this year. But their archrival looms large.
Ferris State’s first stumble could come on Oct. 25 against Grand Valley State, the bitter foe they face in the Anchor-Bone Classic. Ferris State will have the advantage of playing the Laker at home this year, at Top Taggart Field,
If the Bulldogs survive the Anchor-Bone, they could cruise until the Super Region quarterfinals, where they could meet anyone from GVSU, to Minnesota Duluth and Augustana (SD). At least for now, it's safe to assume Ferris State goes the distance.
Harding (5-0) – FloCollege No. 2
- Wins: Northwestern Oklahoma State, Southwestern Oklahoma State, Southern Arkansas, Ouachita Baptist, East Central
Next Big Test: Harding’s old-school option attack has plowed through the GAC so far, but circle the road trip to Henderson State (Oct. 18) on your calendar.
The Bisons have already vanquished rival Ouachita Baptist and boast one of D2’s stingiest defenses, and very likely won't misstep against the Reddies, but it's the regular season matchup to watch.
Harding hasn't lost since the D2 quarterfinals last year, where Ferris State shellacked them 41-7, ending their season. This year, they move to a stacked Super Region 4 featuring UTPB, Central Washington, CSU Pueblo, Western Colorado and more.
Kutztown (5-0) – FloCollege No. 3
- Wins: Assumption, Edinboro, Gannon, Shepherd, Shippensburg
Next Big Test: Quietly dominant in the PSAC, Kutztown has won every game so far, including Gannon and Shepherd.
The Golden Bears’ likely pitfall would be the PSAC championship game in November, where they could face the West Division’s top dog. With Slippery Rock notching two losses, who that champion will be is anyone's guess. Could be California PA, could be IUP, could be another team entirely.
East Stroudsburg and IUP, both 4-1, head to Kutztown on Nov. 1 and Nov. 15. Those teams have started the season on a tear, and certainly pose threats to the Golden Bears' perfect season.
West Florida (5-0) – FloCollege No. 4
- Wins: Lenoir-Rhyne, Kentucky Wesleyan, Shorter, North Greenville, Northeastern State
Next Big Test: West Florida’s path has been smooth so far, but a colossal undefeated showdown at West Alabama on Oct. 18 could decide the GSC crown. We'll talk about West Alabama further down, but this game could be one of the best of the year.
Delta State, currently No. 18, only has one loss to their name this year and could also derail the Argonauts.
If West Florida clears those hurdles, the Super Region Two gauntlet awaits.
Western Colorado (5-0) – FloCollege No. 5
- Wins: West Texas A&M, Midwestern State, Adams State, New Mexico Highlands, Fort Lewis
Next Big Test: Western Colorado has stiff-armed tests against West Texas A&M and New Mexico Highlands, jumping out to a 5-0 record and leading the RMAC. But they will face in-state tests ahead.
First, Colorado School of Mines comes to Gunnison on Oct. 25, and although Mines are only 3-2, they still pose dangers as a traditional RMAC powerhouse.
One week later, No. 12 CSU Pueblo (Nov. 1) lurks as a legitimate threat, meaning the Mountaineers must survive a brutal late-October stretch.
UT Permian Basin (5-0) – FloCollege No. 6
- Wins: Central Oklahoma, Adams State, Texas A&M-Kingsville, Midwestern State, Angelo State
Next Big Test: UTPB soared into the top 10 after knocking off then-No. 5 Angelo State. The Falcons’ reward? A date with the imposing No. 13 Central Washington on Oct. 11.
While CWU is not part of the undefeated club, their only loss this season came against FCS power Montana. Outside of that, their offense has crushed the competition, including a 91-point scorefest against Western New Mexico.
Should Permian Basin survive the Wildcats, they should be properly steeled for Super Region 4, but it will certainly be no cakewalk.

Minnesota Duluth (6-0) – FloCollege No. 7
- Wins: Winona State, Concordia–St. Paul, Minnesota State Mankato, Sioux Falls, MSU Moorhead, SW Minnesota State
Next Big Test: Minnesota Duluth are one of two teams with six wins already this season, the other is Augustana. Both are undefeated.
Duluth has already navigated the toughest part of their schedule, repelling Minnesota State, Sioux Falls, and MSU Moorhead in the last month.
Realistically, the Bulldogs’ first loss might not come until the playoffs, where Super Region Three heavyweights await. A quarterfinal showdown with Ferris State or another national contender could finally test Duluth’s depth.
West Alabama (5-0) – FloCollege No. 10
- Wins: Fort Valley State, Chowan, Charleston (WV), Barton, North Greenville
Next Big Test: Don’t be fooled by the Tigers’ relatively quiet climb into the top 10 – West Alabama so far looks for real, and they’ll get another chance to prove it soon. The Oct. 18 home game against West Florida is the most likely pitfall for UWA’s undefeated run.
The Tigers defeated current No. 21, Charleston WV handily, but showed some defensive cracks in a 52-44 shootout win at North Greenville, and West Florida's mobile quarterback Marcus Stokes can exploit any lapses.
One barrier that could block West Alabama's progress is that they've had two games postponed in the last two weeks. By the time they play UWF, it'll have been 21 days since they last played.
Augustana (SD) (6-0) – FloCollege No. 14
- Wins: Missouri Western, Jamestown (ND), UMary, Bemidji State, Winona State, Sioux Falls
Next Big Test: The Vikings have flirted with disaster despite their perfect mark – needing a last-minute stop to beat UMary and surviving Sioux Falls by a single point.
That raises red flags with Minnesota State Mankato coming to town on Nov. 8. MSU, a D2 playoff regular, will be the best team Augustana faces all year.
Should Augie get through that, the expanded D2 playoff might pair them against Duluth or another powerhouse early.
Findlay (5-0) – FloCollege No. 23
- Wins: Indianapolis, Wayne State (MI), Lake Erie, Thomas More, Walsh
Next Big Test: Newly ranked and brimming with confidence, Findlay has emerged as the team to beat in the Great Midwest. They handed Walsh its first loss and now eye a conference title, but two obstacles stand out: Ashland (Nov. 8) and Tiffin (Nov. 15).
The Oilers visit Ashland in early November, and the Eagles defense has been cooking. Ashland is 4-1, with their only loss coming to UIndy in the second week of the season. Last week, the Eagles shutout Kentucky Wesleyan, 55-0.
Don't underestimate Findlay, though, they knocked off UIndy 38-35 in their first game of the season.

Benedict (5-0) – FloCollege RV
- Wins: Fayetteville State, Central State (OH), Tuskegee, Clark Atlanta, Allen
Next Big Test: Benedict has gone under the radar, but the Tigers have been mowing down the competition through their first five games.
However, the wins are about to get harder as Edward Waters and Albany State linger in mid-October. Both teams are having strong seasons, and Edward Waters, in particular, has knocked off Miles and Virginia Union.
Regardless, Benedict are off to their best start since 2023, when they went undefeated in the regular season, before losing to Lenoir-Rhyne in the playoffs.
Frostburg State (5-0) – FloCollege RV
- Wins: Shepherd, Millersville, West Liberty, WV Wesleyan, Concord
Next Big Test: The Bobcats have clawed their way through the first half unscathed, highlighted by an opening win over regional power Shepherd.
But, in the MEC, all roads lead to Charleston (WV), and that Oct. 18 matchup could very well decide the league champion.
But the biggest test may come on Nov. 1, when Frostburg heads to PA to take on California PA, the Vulcans themselves only a week removed from their undefeated status.
Frostburg is still unranked, but they won't stay that way for long if they keep winning.
