Rhode Island enters 2-3 after back-to-back CAA losses, while Brown is 1-1 after falling 14-10 to Harvard.

Here's what to know about Brown vs. Rhode Island and how to watch the Governor's Cup live.

What Is The Governor's Cup?

The Governor's Cup is the annual rivalry trophy awarded to the winner of the Brown-Rhode Island football game.

Brown and Rhode Island first played in 1909, and Saturday will mark the 110th meeting between the two programs. The Governor's Cup trophy was introduced in 1981.

Brown leads the all-time series 74-33-2, but Rhode Island holds a 23-20 advantage in Governor's Cup games.

Brown is also Rhode Island's most-played opponent in program history.

Who Won The Governor's Cup Last Year?

Brown beat Rhode Island 28-21 in the 2025 Governor's Cup.

The victory snapped Rhode Island's six-game winning streak in the rivalry and gave Brown the Governor's Cup for the first time since 2017.

It was also the first football game played at Centreville Bank Stadium.

Rhode Island had an opportunity to tie the game late, but Brown's Miles Brophy intercepted Devin Farrell near midfield to seal the Bears' victory.

Now the Rams get a chance to take the Cup back at the same stadium where they lost it.

Rhode Island Football Needs A Response

Rhode Island enters the Governor's Cup at 2-3 after consecutive losses to Stony Brook and North Carolina A&T.

The Rams are coming off a 22-18 loss to North Carolina A&T in which four turnovers resulted in 16 points for the Aggies.

Rhode Island nearly erased a 22-3 second-half deficit. Alex McClelland came off the bench and completed 12-of-23 passes for 119 yards, while Terrance Campbell rushed for a career-high 85 yards and a touchdown.

The Rams now return home looking to stop their two-game skid before traveling to face defending Ivy League champion Yale later in October.

Is Devin Farrell Playing For Rhode Island?

No. Rhode Island quarterback Devin Farrell is still out for the 2026 season.

That means the Rams will have to try to reclaim the Governor's Cup without the quarterback who threw for 353 yards and three touchdowns against Brown last season.

Rhode Island has turned to other options at quarterback in Farrell's absence, including Tyler Budge and Alex McClelland.
