It’s A Top 15 Matchup
Every D2 football fan’s eyes have been locked on the Bulldogs this season (and last season, and the season prior…), but the Wildcats, the 2025 Lone Star Conference Champions, are ready to for all eyes on them in the first season of the Scott Power era.
Last season, No. 14 Central Washington posted a 10-2 record, went 9-0 in the Lone Star Conference (LSC) and won the conference title and reached the NCAA D2 Playoffs. They enter this season with a slew of names on the coaching roster. including that of first-year head coach Scott Power. Despite the leadership changes, CWU was selected to repeat as LSC Champions in the 2026 LSC Preseason Football Poll, totaling 276 points and 16 first-place votes.
There’s not much to say about Ferris State that hasn’t already been said. They’re cruising through early-season football in mid-season form. The Bulldogs, who posted the first 16-0 season in NCAA modern history, are on their way to doing so again. They beat preseason No. 4 Pittsburg State in Kansas to open the season, then rolled past Bentley at home in Week 1. That said, every Ferris State game is bound to be a good game to watch - you don't want to miss any week of Bulldog action.

Why Not Central Washington?
Central Washington opened the 2026 campaign with a new head coach. They also opened the season at NCAA Division I (FCS) Cal Poly.
Last week, CWU lost by just one touchdown, allowing the Cal Poly Mustangs their first win of the season in a 24-17 decision. The Wildcats were the first to strike, thanks to a one-yard touchdown run from QB Justin Brennan. Brennan connected with Mason Juergens in the fourth quarter to cut down the 24-7 deficit by seven. By forcing a turnover on downs, David Weber was able to add three with a 23-yard field goal late in the quarter.
What I’m trying to say here is, if any regular-season non-conference opponent can take down the ‘Dogs, it might as well be Central Washington. They’ve already faced adversity this season - what’s one more game of being the underdogs?
Keep Watching Ferris State Make History
Ferris State makes history every time they touch the field - literally.
The Bulldogs extended their win streak to 32 games following a 38-3 win over Bentley (Mass.) in the team’s home opener on Sept. 4. The 32-game streak dates back to September 2024, a season-opening loss at Pittsburg State (Kan.).
Every game they win writes a new number into Ferris State history, which fits swimmingly with the team’s mindset: to take things one game at a time.
