10. Darius Leonard Has Gone From Unwanted To Unstoppable

Darius Leonard wasn't an unknown commodity coming out of Lake View (SC) High School.

Clemson, South Carolina, and North Carolina State were among the schools that showed interest in Leonard — a prospect who played virtually every skill position at his Class A high school, including quarterback, running back, and wide receiver.

9. Chris Sutton Was Out There Playing Madden On Saturday

Texarkana Texas High School had to play on the road against the defending state champions, but the Tigers never looked overwhelmed by the big stage.

The visitors fell behind on Highland Park’s second play from scrimmage and trailed 35-14 at the half of their UIL Class 5A, Division I bi-district game at the Ford Center in Frisco. However, Texas High's Tevailance Hunt and Chris Sutton kept swinging.

8. Zed Woerner Is The Face Of The Texans — And Tarleton State, Too

Zed Woerner doesn’t want attention.

The 6-foot-2 senior is one of the most prolific passers in Tarleton State’s history. He owns the single-game school records for completions and passing yards and the career record for touchdown passes — and if he throws for 213 yards or more against Central Oklahoma in the Corsicana Bowl in Corsicana, Texas, Woerner will add the career record for passing yards, as well.

4. How MOJO Moved To Allen

Three days before undefeated Waco Midway used Allen’s 18,000-seat palace of a stadium as the neutral site of its Texas UIL 6A-2 state semifinal win over Longview, Midway head coach Jeff Hulme waits patiently behind his desk while a complete stranger sets up a camera across from him.

That stranger, of course, is me, and I’m making small talk with Hulme. “Congrats on making it this far,” I tell him. “Congrats on getting to 14-0.”

3. Bumper Pool: The Pride Of Lovejoy, Always A Razorback

Lovejoy (Texas) linebacker Bumper Pool grew up in a family full of Razorbacks, calling the Hogs and dreaming of one day playing in Fayetteville, AR.

2. Dez Bryant Talks Longview-Lufkin, Has A Message For Current Players

Both Lufkin and Longview have an impressive group of alumni, many of whom have gone on to enjoy great college and pro careers — players such as Chris Ivory, Trent Williams, and Javorskie Lane, to name a few.

Of course, there is perhaps no more accomplished alumnus on that list than Dallas Cowboys wide receiver Dez Bryant.

1. Dakereon Joyner: South Carolina's Own Is Locked & Loyal

Fort Dorchester (SC) quarterback Dakereon Joyner lost his father when he was 9 years old. In the years since, he has paid tribute to his dad at every opportunity — and an entire community was behind him.

Joyner is loyal and he values the same trait in others. That fact, in and of itself, does well to explain why the top quarterback prospect in South Carolina opted to stay home and play for Will Muschamp and the Gamecocks.
