The World’s Largest Cocktail Party is about to be a bar fight.

New Florida head coach Dan Mullen hasn’t even started unpacking boxes in his office yet, and he’s already made an enemy across the Florida-Georgia line by going after the best player in Georgia’s impressive 2019 recruiting class: quarterback Justin Fields.

Mullen reportedly paid a visit to Fields, the No. 1-rated prospect in the country, on Tuesday. The five-star prospect from Harrison (GA) High School wasn’t even considering the Gators a week ago and has been committed to Kirby Smart and the Bulldogs since early October.

Long Beach Poly (CA) quarterback Matt Corral is currently committed to Florida — and his commitment back in June was the end of the Gators’ pursuit of Fields for the time being.

But with Mullen making changes to the coaching staff (six assistants will not be retained) and resuscitating the school’s efforts to pull Fields out of Georgia, Corral’s commitment would seem to be on shaky ground.

Ironically, 247Sports’ crystal ball prediction lists Georgia as the only other program with a shot at Corral.

Regardless of who’s playing quarterback in Gainesville, he’ll need some folks to throw the ball to — which also so happens to be a problem that Mullen has wasted no time in addressing. Mississippi State commit Stephen Guidry — the top JUCO wide receiver in the country — received an offer from Florida about seven seconds after Mullen’s press conference ended Monday.

Guidry, who has spent the past two seasons at Hinds Community College in Raymond, MS, hasn’t decommitted from the Bulldogs yet, but he seems prettaaay, prettaaay, pretty excited about Florida.
