My Week 5 predictions may not have been perfect (4-1, thank you very much), but 15 D2 football teams are.
Although the FloCollege D2 Top 25 has shifted, the Top Six has stayed constant: Ferris State, Harding, CSU-Pueblo, Kutztown, Minnesota State and Grand Valley State. I’d guess that this will remain until Week 7, when No. 1 Ferris State visits rival No. 6 Grand Valley State on Saturday, Oct. 17.

Anyways, enough about the rankings. Let’s get into what you’re really here for: five Week 6 predictions from your favorite D2 insider.
No. 6 Grand Valley State Will Hand No. 23 Michigan Tech Their First Conference Loss
Listen, I have a lot of faith in the Lakers. So much that I believe they will drive eight hours and remain undefeated.
Michigan Tech is a team that we consistently see at the top of the GLIAC and Top 25 rankings. Currently ranked 23rd, the Huskies have just one loss to their name: undefeated Emporia State in Week 2 (L, 20-34).
GVSU has allowed just 37 points this season, and I doubt that number will grow much in Week 6. They’re ranked first in the nation in scoring offense (55.8 ppg) and in total defense (214.0 ypg). Quarterback Andrew Schuster leads D2 in passing efficiency, completing 82-111 passes for 1,237 yards and 18 touchdowns for an efficiency rating of 219.20.
The Lakers have been perfect every week - Week 6 is unlikely to be an exception.

Central Washington Will Remain Unbeaten in LSC Play
Both Midwestern State (4-1, 3-0) and Central Washington (3-2, 3-0) enter Week 6 unbeaten in the Lone Star Conference. Obviously, only one can keep a perfect record following the 6 p.m. PT battle on Saturday, Oct. 10, and my vote goes to Central Washington.
Central Washington has been dealt some tough cards this season, beginning the year against a nationally-ranked FCS team and two Top 10 D2 squads. The Wildcats didn’t let the rankings scare them; they were within two scores of their only two losses and have outscored their three opponents 147-72.
Although Midwestern State has one more win than CWash, their competition has been a lot less intense. Their most recent win was, however, a 44-32 upset over RV Western Oregon. Now, they have to capitalize on that win as they head to Ellensburg, Wash., for a Homecoming matchup against the battle-tested Wildcats.
No. 9 Northwood Will Win On The Road
If you’ve kept up with D2 football this season, you’ve probably come to realize that Northwood is no joke. The No. 9 Timberwolves opened the 2026 campaign with a decisive 52-0 win at Wayne State (Mich.) and they’ve been on a tear ever since. Their Week 4 34-11 upset at No. 9 Findlay just added fuel to the fire, as they took down Great Midwest Athletic Conference opponent Kentucky Wesleyan 49-14 in Week 5.
Their next test will be on the road at Tiffin. The Dragons opened the season with a 3-point loss to Carson-Newman (38-41) in Jefferson City, Tenn.; they have won every game since. Now, both G-MAC teams will enter competition with a recently earned win under their belts.
However, Northwood has the upper hand in this battle. Why? They have Ethan Hamby.
The senior quarterback leads the nation in completion percentage (134-172, .779) and completions per game (26.80 avg). He owns every passing record at Northwood, leads the G-MAC in every passing category and ranks in the top 13 nationally in six different categories.
No. 15 North Greenville Will Stay Perfect
Yep. North Greenville is still perfect. And I believe that they will stay that way in Week 6.
The No. 15 Trailblazers rank first in the Conference Carolinas in offense, averaging 37.8 points per game and 415.6 offensive yards. They also lead in rushing, offensive efficiency, interceptions and first-down, third-down, and fourth-down conversions.
Chowan, a 2-3 team fresh off a to-the-wire loss at West Alabama, has found the end zone at least three times in every game this season. They lead the CC in passing offense with an average of 300 yards per game. This can be credited to quarterback Tyler Adkins, who has gone 150-for-190 this season for 1,490 yards and 10 touchdowns.
Although Chowan’s pass game is strong, North Greenville has quite a large offensive edge.
No. 14 Northwest Missouri State Will Beat RV Central Missouri
This nationally ranked matchup is one that I’m tuning into in Week 6. The No. 14 Bearcats (3-1, 2-1) host the RV Mules (4-1, 3-0) in a 1:30 p.m. CT faceoff on Saturday, Oct. 10 at Bearcat Stadium (Maryville, Mo.).
Northwest Missouri State has won their last seven games at home, tying for the sixth-longest active home-field win streak in the nation and ranking first in the MIAA. Several other stats are on NW Missouri State’s side, including national scoring defense (No. 7), fewest touchdowns allowed (No. 1, tied) and the All-Time Series record (64-37-2 vs. Central Missouri).
