Central Washington Takes Its First Conference Road Trip
Central Washington heads to Texas with a 2-2 overall record and a perfect 2-0 mark in Lone Star Conference play. The Wildcats, ranked No. 12 nationally, have won consecutive conference games after opening the season with losses to Cal Poly and Ferris State.
Central Washington opened LSC play with a 45-36 win over Western Oregon before dominating Sul Ross State University 61-22 last weekend.
Saturday marks Central Washington's first conference road game of the season. The Wildcats will look to carry their recent momentum into San Angelo against an Angelo State team coming off its first conference victory.
Angelo State Returns Home After Overtime Win
Angelo State enters the matchup at 1-3 overall and 1-1 in conference play after earning a 29-28 overtime victory at Western Oregon in Week 4.
The victory gave Angelo State its first victory and conference win of the season after losses to West Texas A&M and Western Colorado. The Rams also dropped their season opener to Fort Hays State.
The Rams now return to LeGrand Stadium for a two-game homestand, beginning with Saturday's matchup against Central Washington.
Recent History Between The Programs
Central Washington and Angelo State have developed a competitive series since the Wildcats joined the Lone Star Conference. Angelo State won the first two meetings in 2021 and 2022, but Central Washington has won two of the past three matchups.
The Wildcats won the most recent meeting 38-21 in 2025. Central Washington also defeated Angelo State 27-24 in 2023, while the Rams earned a 17-16 victory in San Angelo in 2024.
Angelo State holds a 3-2 advantage in the all-time series, while Central Washington has won the most recent matchup. The Wildcats will now attempt to earn their first road victory over the Rams in the series.
