
The University at Albany football team had a disappointing 2025 season, but it did end on a high note – a 31-24 victory over Monmouth that played a huge part in the Hawks missing the playoffs.
Now, Monmouth heads to Bob Ford Field at Tom & Mary Casey Stadium in Albany, New York, for a shot at redemption and to take a huge step forward in the race for this year’s Coastal Athletic Association title.

UAlbany opened the 2026 campaign at home with a conference win over New Hampshire, marking the first win of the team’s new era under head coach Tom Perkovich.
The Great Danes return home after going 1-1 on their recent two-game road trip, and they’ll also be looking to remain relevant in the CAA standings.
Monmouth is 1-2 overall this year, but the Sept. 5 victory came against CAA newcomer Sacred Heart.
The Hawks and Great Danes, both playing under first-year head coaches, now are part of a five-way tie atop the conference standings.
Their 2026 showdown will get underway at 3:30 p.m. Eastern. It will be the 21st meeting between the two programs, with UAlbany owning a 14-6 advantage, including the last two times they met and seven of their last nine meetings overall.

UAlbany is missing tackles, and Monmouth takes advantage on opening drive.
Weaver connects with Neal, and he's able to scramble for 42 yards to the ALB12.
Jennings gets the ball for 8. Then 1. Then 2 for the first down at the 1-yard line.
Weaver goes out as a wide receiver, the snap goes directly to redshirt sophomore running back Nazir Treadwell, who charges forward for a 1-yard score.
But, wait.
The play is reviewed, and it's determined that Treadwell was short.
It's third and goal about a half yard out.
They run the same play again for the third time, and he gets in.

The defense is expecting a legit attempt, so no one is back to receive the kick. The ball rolls to the Monmouth 2-yard line, and the Hawks take over.
