After a short hiatus following the departure all every team in the conference aside from Washington State and Oregon State, the Pac-12 has reloaded with new member schools and is ready to make a splash.

Boise State, San Diego State and Texas State are among the new teams in the conference who are looking to take over in their first seasons. With a mix of new head coaches and transfers, the Pac-12 this season should prove to be highly competitive.

No, a Pac-12 school is not guaranteed a spot in the College Football Playoff. The rules changed so that only the five highest-ranked conference champions are guaranteed a spot.

For example, Duke won the ACC after finishing with a 7-5 record in the regular season and was not granted a spot in the playoff.

The Pac-12 is no longer considered a power conference, meaning it could be difficult for a team in the conference to secure a ranking high enough to qualify.

For the 2026 season, Boise State stands out as the clear favorite to win the Pac-12 conference. The Broncos dominated the Mountain West, winning the conference in three consecutive seasons.
