On Oct. 4, once of the most anticipated LSC matchups of the season takes place as the UT Permian Basin Falcons head to San Angelo, Texas to take on the Angelo State Rams.

Based on the D2 rankings by FloCollege, Angelo State and UT Permian Basin are both in the top-ten. The Rams hold down the fifth spot and the Falcons moved up to ninth after Week 4. 

The Rams and the Falcons are meeting up for the 10th time in program history and Angelo State currently has seven wins over the Falcons all time. 

The UTPB Falcons will head into the contest 4-0 on the season and 2-0 in LSC play. The Falcons are on the road after claiming a home victory over the Midwestern State Mustangs on Sept. 27. In the 37-15 victory, UTPB tallied 564 yards of total offense. 

Starting quarterback Kanon Gibson was 21-for-29 on pass completion with 331 yards and three touchdown tosses. Camden Tyler was the leading rusher for the Falcons with 32 yards on five carries with a touchdown. 

Angelo State will play host to the Falcons at 1st Community Credit Union Field at LeGrand Stadium. The Rams enter the contest after a bye week in Week 4. ASU is 4-0 on the season overall and 2-0 in LSC play. In the Rams most recent contest on Sept. 20, Angelo State walked away with a 56-27 victory over Western New Mexico. 

In the victory, the Rams tallied 411 yards. Starting quarterback Kaeden Smith was 14-for-22 on pass completion with 214 yards and five touchdown tosses. Cameron Dischler was the leading rusher for the Rams tallying 74 yards on 10 carries and one touchdown. 

Both teams sit in a three-way tie for the top of the LSC standings, so the stakes in this matchup have never been higher. Who is coming out with the win? Time will tell all of the answers on Oct. 4.
