Week 5 in D2 football was all about statement games and eye-popping numbers.

West Alabama’s Spencer Arceneaux led his team to a wild 52-44 win over North Greenville, accounting for five total touchdowns—four through the air and one on the ground—while racking up 255 passing yards and 45 rushing yards.

Virginia Union’s Curtis Allen shredded Shaw for 216 rushing yards and two touchdowns on just 14 carries, including a 65-yard score, as the Panthers rolled to a 59-7 victory.

Johnson C. Smith’s Kelvin Durham put on a show in a 69-13 homecoming rout of Bluefield State, throwing four touchdown passes and tying the school’s second-most in a single game. Durham’s performance powered the Golden Bulls to their largest margin of victory in program history.

On defense, Emory & Henry’s Maurice Adams was a force, notching three sacks and a forced fumble to help his team secure a win. UNC Pembroke’s defense pitched a shutout, grabbing three interceptions and recovering two fumbles.
