Since 1968, Angelo State and Eastern New Mexico (ENMU) have faced off on the football field. The latest installment in the long-standing back-and-forth between the teams arrives in Portales, N.M., on Sept. 13.

Watch the upcoming match at 8 p.m. ET on FloCollege.

In the Angelo State vs. Eastern New Mexico history, Angelo has taken 29 wins compared with ENMU’s 18. Angelo’s longest win streak came between 1969 and 1984, when the Rams won eight consecutive games. ENMU’s longest streak sits at four wins, but the Greyhounds dominated more recently between 2002 and 2005. Their latest matchup ended in a 6-4 win for Angelo State. However, the upcoming game could just as easily start evening the score.

Angelo opened the season with back-to-back wins against Fort Hays State (28-7) and Emporia State (41-20). Their strong start out of the gate earned them the top spot in the Lone Star Conference standings.

ENMU is off to a rocky start with a two-game losing streak. They performed better in their season opener against New Mexico Highlands, falling 34-28. Part of the closer game may have been due to the home-field advantage at ENMU’s Al Whitehead Field. The upcoming home game against Angelo might give them just the boost they need.
