No. 6 West Florida Claims First Road Victory Over Kentucky Wesleyan 28-7

The No. 6-ranked West Florida Argonauts will remain undefeated after defeating Kentucky Wesleyan, 28-7, during the first road contest of the year.

- Biggest Questions For Week 1 Of D2 Football Season
The Argos offensive momentum started quickly as Marcus Stokes kept the football and added a 75-yard rushing touchdown to his stat sheet in the opening minute of the game. Stokes ended the game with a 44% completion rate, 222 yards and two touchdowns. Stokes also had three interceptions on the day. Jay Sharp was the lead receiver for the Argos. Sharp had three receptions for 97 yards and two touchdowns.
Kentucky Wesleyan had a rough day on the offensive side of the ball, but the defense was the bright light for this Panthers team. Jalon Baker led the way for the Panthers with ten total tackles on the day. Nolan Forsha and Gage Eldridge followed closely behind with seven tackles each. Nehemiah Askew, Brayden Matherson and Dre Raven each had one interception for the Panthers.
The Panthers would find their way into the endzone early in the fourth quarter. Justus Wertzeler would complete the 41-yard pass to Cameron Brogan for the touchdown. Brogan was also the leading receiver for the Panthers with 5 receptions for 90 yards and a touchdown.
The Argos will head into Week 2, 2-0 after the victory over the Panthers. They will host Shorter on Sept. 13. The Panthers will look to bounce back in Week 2 after the loss to try and even up their 0-1 record. They will travel to Liberty, Mo. to take on William Jewell on Sept. 13.
