GVSU Holds Off Black Hills State In High-Scoring Thriller, 48-36

GVSU defeats Black Hills State 48-36 with a standout performance from Andrew Schuster and big plays from Lynn Wyche-El and BHSU's TJ Chukwurah.

Grand Valley State held off a resilient Black Hills State team in a thrilling 48-36 victory.  

Andrew Schuster led the charge for the Lakers, passing for 391 yards and 4 touchdowns while adding 19 rushing yards. Lynn Wyche-El paced the receiving corps with 99 yards and a touchdown. 

On the Yellow Jackets' side, Luke Duby threw for 359 yards and 4 touchdowns, with TJ Chukwurah hauling in 12 catches for 182 yards and 3 scores. 

Despite a dramatic 96-yard kickoff return touchdown by Bryce Coulson, GVSU's offense sealed the win in a wild fourth quarter.

Final: Black Hills State 36, GVSU 48

It was quite an effort from the Black Hills State Yellow Jackets, but GVSU was able to pull out the win. 

Andrew Schuster led the way, passing 22-32 with 391 yards. Schuster also threw for 4 touchdowns and ran for 19 yards. 

Lynn Wyche-El was the GVSU receiving yards leader, receiving 99 yards on 3 receptions and 1 touchdown. 

Four separate Laker receivers scored receiving touchdowns. 

On the BHSU side, Luke Duby went 38-51, tossing 359 yards and 4 touchdowns. 

TJ Chukwurah was almost certainly the player of the game, grabbing 12 receptions for 182 yards and 3 touchdowns.

Black Hills State has shown some impressive perseverance, and Duby finds TJ Chukwurah for another touchdown. BHSU pulls within 12 points after the extra point.

Schuster finds Kellen Reed to add another touchdown and pad the Lakers' lead. 

This one is a 33-yard reception, and the extra point is good.

Immediately, Andrew Schuster passed to Lynn Wyche-El for 17 yards. On top of that, there is a face mask call on BHSU that adds another 15 yards.
