Slippery Rock kicked off their season with a hard-fought 24-13 win over Franklin Pierce at Sodexo Field in Rindge, NH, though it was not the most dominant game from last season's D2 playoffs semifinalist.

QB Anthony Vespo threw for 139 yards, including a touchdown, and added a rushing score.

JayJay Jordan was a key contributor, rushing for 119 yards and a spectacular 74-yard touchdown. On defense, Jacob Snow made his mark with two sacks.

Franklin Pierce made a late push, with Adrian Parker tossing a touchdown, but fumbles and a missed extra point kept them from closing the gap.
