The Freedom Bowl Is Coming Straight For Your Eye Balls
The Freedom Bowl, presented by Battle, is one of the nation's premier high school showcase events.
The weekend will feature four teams from the Flo25 and five teams from the MaxPreps Top 100. Better still, there are so many Power Five-bound prospects set to take the field in Milton, Ga., that we legitimately lost count.
Call it "sixtysomething."
Chaminade-Madonna linebacker Keontra Smith is among the most impressive—and selfless defenders in the country. He will play safety for Mark Richt at "The U," but he's wrecking offenses from inside the box for Lions because that's what his team needs.
Muscle Shoals linebacker Jackson Bratton is one of the top players at his position in the '20 class and leads a fearless Trojans defense this year—and next—before he heads to Tuscaloosa to man the middle for Nick Saban and the Crimson Tide.
Cardinal Gibbons quarterback Nik Scalzo is a surgeon with the football who brings a combination of talent and experience rarely seen at the position. He—along with teammate Nik Ognenovic—will take his talents to Kentucky to play for Mark Stoops.
North Gwinnett features an electrifying duo of playmakers, '20 wide receiver Josh Downs and '19 running back Tyler Goodson, who can bust a game wide open in the blink of an eye. Goodson will do the same at Iowa next season and in the years to come.
The hosts from Milton are 2-0, with impressive wins against then-No. 19 Archer (GA) and rival Alpharetta, thanks, in large part to the exploits of Georgia Tech-bound quarterback Jordan Yates and Clemson-bound safety Joe Charleston.
...and on and on it goes.
