Carson-Newman forward Bryant Thomas has been named the South Atlantic Conference Men’s Basketball Player of the Week for games played during the first week of the 2022-2023 season, the conference announced Monday.

Thomas, a senior from Charlotte, North Carolina, led the Eagles to a 1-1 record to open the season. That included a 73-70 loss to Lees-McRae and an 86-74 win over King. 

He recorded a double-double of 28 points and 10 rebounds against Lees-McRae and added a steal and three blocks. 

Thomas then scored 20 points with four rebounds and two steals against King. 

For the week he averaged 24 points, seven rebounds, 1.5 steals and 1.5 blocks.
