UAlbany freshman quarterback Reese Poffenbarger has been selected as the FedEx Ground FCS National Freshman Player of the Week by Stats Perform.

Poffenbarger completed 26-of-35 passes for 337 yards and four touchdowns in UAlbany’s overtime setback to Hampton. The freshman threw three touchdowns of 35 or more yards and added a 15-yard scoring toss in overtime. It was Poffenbarger’s fifth straight game with 250+ pass yards. He has 13 TD passes with no interceptions for the year.

It's the fourth time this season that a CAA Football player has been recognized as a FedEx Ground National Player of the Week by Stats Perform. Delaware linebacker Johnny Buchanan was named National Defensive Player of the Week on Sept. 5 following his school-record 23-tackle performance in the Blue Hens’ victory over Navy. William & Mary cornerback Jalen Jones received National Defensive Player of the Week accolades on Sept. 12 after intercepting three passes in the Tribe’s win over Campbell. Delaware quarterback Nolan Henderson was chosen as the National Offensive Player of the Week on Sept. 19 after passing for a career-high 379 yards and four touchdowns in the Blue Hens’ 42-21 triumph over Rhode Island.

Along with Poffenbarger’s award, Stats Perform recognized Hampton quarterback Malcolm Mays as a National Offensive Player of the Week honorable mention selection and Maine defensive lineman Khairi Manns as a National Defensive Player of the Week honorable mention selection.
