The South Atlantic Conference announced its football players of the week for games played during the fifth week of the 2022 season. 

Wingate quarterback Shaw Crocker was tabbed as the Offensive Player of the Week, while Carson-Newman linebacker Alonzo Houston was named the Defensive Player of the Week.

Emory & Henry kicker Cameron Jones picked up Special Teams Player of the Week honors.

Crocker, a graduate student from Greenville, South Carolina, led the Bulldogs to a 31-7 win over Erskine last week. He connected on 21 of 27 passes (77.8%) for 225 yards with two touchdowns. 

He spread the wealth throughout the game, connecting with 13 receivers.

Houston, a senior from Wimauma, Florida, led the Eagles to an impressive 24-14 win over No. 7 Newberry. He racked up 10 tackles, including five solo tackles, with an interception and a pass breakup. Houston also surpassed the 200-tackle mark for his career in the game. 

As a defensive unit, the Eagles allowed just 17 yards of offense in the second half and did not give up a first down in the final 35 minutes of action against the Wolves.

Jones, a junior from Jacksonville, North Carolina, led the Wasps to a 38-23 win over Catawba, going 1-for-2 on field goals and connecting on all five extra point attempts. He finished the game with eight points for Emory & Henry.
