Four CAA Standouts Receive Preseason Honors From Athlon Sports

Four CAA Football standouts have been chosen to the Athlon Sports 2022 FCS Preseason All-America team.

Recognized, were Villanova senior offensive lineman Michael Corbi, William & Mary junior defensive lineman Nate Lynn, New Hampshire sophomore defensive lineman Josiah Silver and Delaware senior defensive back Kedrick Whitehead.

Corbi is a two-time selection to the All-CAA first team. He helped pave the way for a Villanova offense that ranked second in the league in total yards (380.0 ypg) and scoring (30.1 ppg) in 2021. The Wildcats were among the nation's leaders with only 14 sacks allowed in 13 games.

Lynn received All-America recognition from five different organizations last season and was chosen as the Defensive Player of the Year in the state of Virginia. He recorded 52 total tackles, ranked second in FCS with six forced fumbles and tied for fifth nationally with 12 sacks a year ago. Lynn finished ninth in the voting for the Buck Buchanan Award as the top defensive player in FCS football.

Silver earned All-America accolades from the Associated Press, Stats Perform and Phil Steele after an outstanding freshman season in 2021. The CAA Defensive Rookie of the Year and a first-team All-CAA pick, he recorded 80 total tackles, 20.5 tackles for loss, 12.5 sacks and six forced fumbles in 11 games. Silver was one of 23 finalists for the Jerry Rice Award as the top freshman in FCS football.

Whitehead has made All-America teams for the past three seasons and is a two-time first-team All-CAA honoree. The Blue Hens' safety ranked second on the team with 76 tackles in 2021 and also contributed eight pass breakups. He had three games with double-digit stops, including a career-best 15 against James Madison.
