CAA Football continues to lead all FCS conferences with six teams ranked in the latest Top 25 national polls that were released by STATS and the AFCA on Monday, including three squads in the top 10.
James Madison stayed at No. 2 in both polls after edging nationally ranked Stony Brook on the road, 45-38 in overtime, last week. The Dukes (5-1), who have won five in a row, return home for the first time since Sept. 14 for a big showdown against unbeaten Villanova on Saturday.
Villanova remained at No. 5 in the STATS poll and moved up one spot to No. 7 in the AFCA poll following a 35-28 victory at William & Mary last Saturday. The Wildcats (6-0), off to their best start since 2003, play their fifth road game of the season at No. 2 James Madison this week.
Towson stayed at No. 9 in the STATS poll and edged up one place to No. 9 in the AFCA poll during its bye last week. The Tigers (3-2) are at home on Saturday against CAA foe UAlbany.
Delaware jumped to No. 15 in both AFCA and STATS polls despite being off last week. The Blue Hens (3-2) are back in action on Saturday with a conference road game at Elon.
Maine rose two spots to No. 18 in the STATS Top 25 and No. 20 in the AFCA Top 25 during its bye week. The Black Bears (2-3) return to the field on Saturday as they entertain league opponent Richmond.
Stony Brook moved up to No. 22 in the STATS poll and No. 23 in the AFCA poll after its narrow 45-38 overtime setback to No. 2 James Madison last Saturday. The Seawolves (4-2) are back at home this week to take on CAA foe New Hampshire.
New Hampshire (3-2) was among others receiving votes in both polls after extending its winning streak to three with a victory over Elon last week. Elon (2-4) picked up votes in the STATS poll.
CAA Football’s six ranked teams are one more than the Missouri Valley Conference, which had five led by No. 1 North Dakota State and No. 3 South Dakota State.
