Abilene Christian enters Saturday’s Southland Conference tilt riding a three-game winning streak—its longest run of victories since 2014.

The Wildcats held off Northwestern State last week to earn a 49-47 win in Abilene. Luke Anthony completed 31 of 47 passes for 344 yards and three scores—including a pair in the second half.

Sam Houston State was stunned by Incarnate Word after turning the football over seven times. Nathan Stewart racked up 157 yards and a pair of scores, but the turnovers—and a 27-point third quarter for IWU—was too much for the Bearkats to overcome.

ACU Brings Big Offense

The Wildcats lead the Southland Conference in scoring offense (34.1 ppg) and rank second in total offense (471.1 yards per game).

ACU is averaging 175 rushing yards per game and will meet a Sam Houston State defense that is ninth in the league in rushing defense, allowing an average of 201.9 yards per game on the ground.

Anthony Is Enjoying A Year For The Books

Abilene Christian quarterback Luke Anthony is is just six completions short of setting the program’s single-season record for completions in a season at 277, and he’s 362 yards shy of becoming the seventh signal-caller in school history to top 3,000 yards in a season.

He ranks among the nation’s leaders in several passing categories, including completions per game (third at 30.3), completion percentage (fifth at 66.5), passing yards per game (seventh at 293.1), total passing yards (eighth at 2,638), and passing touchdowns (ninth with 21).
