Oklahoma State's Barry Sanders-Era Throwback Is Almost Perfect

First things, first. This uniform is dope. And, not just because we’re all a sucker for a nice throwback, but because it’s genuinely a great look.

The video is also phenomenal. High ten to anyone and everyone associated with creating that masterpiece.

Oklahoma State had a good thing going. Its ‘OSU’ logo used to be nice and clean and cool. And, then, somewhere along the lines, someone thought it’d be a good idea to make it 3D and boxy and awful.

So, yeah, seeing this helmet again is a welcome change of pace.

That it’s being done in honor of Barry Sanders’ Heisman-winning 1988 season is icing on the cake. There wasn’t much that went right for the Cowboys before Mike Gundy took the reigns as head coach, so this is an excellent place to cherry pick and zoom into.

Barry was a cheat code.

Now, having said all of that, this whole thing is only almost perfect. Why? Because there’s a perfectly good Sanders on this team who really ought to be getting some burn behind center at this point—but, for whatever reason, he’s not.

That player, of course, is Denton Ryan product Spencer Sanders—the 2017 Gatorade Texas Player of the Year. Thus far, if you want to see him in action, you’d better show up for warm-ups.

The ‘Pokes also have Hawaii transfer Dru Brown on the roster. They scored 12 points against Kansas State last week. They’ve lost three of four. But, for reasons unknown to brains outside of Gundy’s skull, Taylor Cornelius remains the only quarterback who’s being given a chance.

And, in case you were wondering, Spencer’s mother has had enough:

Not sure what the loyalty to Cornelius—to the extent that you’d just commit to getting your ass kicked for a month straight—is all about, but Gundy does feel pretty dug in at this point.

¯\_(ツ)_/¯
