Fresh off of its first victory of the season, Clark Atlanta heads to Fort Valley State for more SIAC action this week.

After three close losses and a blowout defeat at the hands of Kennesaw State, Clark Atlanta rebounded nicely with a 31-6 demolition of Allen last week.

The Panthers led 28-0 at halftime and cruised from there, as senior Roger Thomas piled up 115 yards and a touchdown on 18 carries.

Fort Valley State fell behind by two scores early against Virginia Lynchburg and, despite a much better second half, was unable to get back within striking distance—falling 31-14 in its home opener.

Garrel Quainton completed 19-of-28 passes for 232 yards one touchdown and one interception in the loss.

Plenty Of Carries To Go Around

Twelve different players have registered rushing attempts for Fort Valley State this season, including Jamari Clark, who leads the team with 145 yards on 41 carries.

As a team, the Wildcats offense has totaled 179 rushing attempts—though it has managed just 321 yards at an average of 1.8 yards per carry.

Thomas Is The Bell Cow For The Panthers

Thomas rushed for 115 yards last week on 18 carries last week and that sort of volume was far from an aberration.

The West Point (MS) product has carried no fewer than 12 times in each of the Panthers’ five games this season—twice going over 50 yards. Last week’s yardage total was a career best.

No Fly Zone

The Clark Atlanta pass defense has stifled opponents so far this season.

The Panthers have allowed just 40 completions through five games and are holding opponents to a minuscule 109.8 yards per game.

Ezekiel Edmonds, Kenneth Morgan and Darius Blackmon have combined for three interceptions and five pass breakups.
