It’s Alabama vs. Florida.

It’s mammoth smash mouth football against star-studded, high-flying versatility.

It’s Bob Jones (AL) vs. Daytona Mainland (AL) at the Freedom Bowl with inter-state bragging rights and a bowl championship trophy on the line.

The Patriots are led by four-star cornerback Jaydon Hill and dual-threat quarterback Caden Rose, who totaled 328 yards running and passing in the team’s thrilling come-from-behind victory over Christian Brothers (TN) last week. The latter also happens to be the son of Bob Jones head coach Kevin Rose.

The Buccaneers lean on an offensive line that averages over 300 pounds and a pair of excellent ball carriers in running back D’Andre McMillian and running back-turned-quarterback Aaron Keith.

It will be a clash of styles and circumstance between two teams that found themselves on different planes after week 1.

Who: Bob Jones (AL) vs. Daytona Mainland (FL)

Where: Milton HS, Milton, GA

Can Daytona Mainland Control The Game In The Trenches?

There aren’t many high school offensive lines that feature the shear size that Daytona Mainland puts on the field.

It’s a group headlined by three-star guard Travis Robinson—a player who holds offers from Florida, Louisville and Missouri, among others—who stands 6-4 and weighs in at 335 pounds.

For the Bucs to have success on Friday, Robinson and his offensive line mates will need to dominate up front and consistently clear a path for running back D’Andre McMillian against a stout Bob Jones front seven that includes linebacker Jacobye Green and defensive tackle Chris Cobb.

Jaydon Hill & Andrew Plummer May Be X-Factors

Jaydon Hill and Andrew Plummer are going to play in someone’s secondary on Saturdays, but, right now, both also serves as a potentially lethal weapon for his respective offense.

For Bob Jones, Hill has proven to be a big play option capable of breaking a game open in virtually any phase of the game. Plummer—who is committed to South Florida—is being recruited as a safety, but will line up on the outside as Daytona Mainland’s most dangerous pass catcher.

The Patriots pick their spots with Hill and the Bucs don’t push much volume into the passing attack in general, so either player can go unnoticed on the offensive end. But if one of them explodes on Friday evening in Milton, Ga., it may be the difference in the game.

Patriots’ 1-2 Passing Punch Is Bound For ‘Bama—For Baseball

The quarterback-wide receiver combination of Caden Rose and Dylan Ray will play a massive role in the outcome of Friday’s game.

A week ago, in a 17-16 win against Christian Brothers (TN), Rose passed for 213 yards, rushed for 115 yards, and contributed one way or the other to 14 of Bob Jones’ 16 first downs. On the most important play of the game—a fourth-and-10 on the Patriots’ game-winning drive—Rose found Ray through the air to extend the drive.

Both players are attractive football prospects—Rose with a Nebraska offer in his back pocket and Ray with an offer from North Alabama—and both are committed to Alabama… for baseball.

Rose, a ’20 shortstop prospect, hit .335 with six home runs, 31 RBI and stole 28 bags as a sophomore. Ray, a 6-3, 205-pound ’20 pitching and/or corner infield prospect, possesses a low-90s fastball.

Needless to say, the Bob Jones coaching staff will be hoping the pair connects on a couple of home run balls in Milton, Ga., on Friday.
