6 Big 12 Players Who Are Must-See TV

Last week, Oklahoma head coach Lincoln Riley made the assertion that Georgia's defense would be, um, slightly less awesome if it played in the Big 12—not because Kirby Smart's D isn't legit, but because the Big 12 is home to the highest-flying offenses in the country.

Of course, that is the way it is because the league is loaded with playmakers.

With that in mind, I thought it made sense to highlight a half-dozen dudes across the league that are nothing short of appointment television—and it's not all offense.

1. Justice Hill, RB, Oklahoma State

Hill ran for 1,467 yards and 15 scores last year in a successful 9-3 season for Oklahoma State. The quarterback position is up in the air and it’s possible that the two best competitors for the job weren’t even on campus for spring ball. In life after Mason Rudolph, the Cowboys should lean more on the run game. Hill is also a guy you can expect to turn check-downs into big gains out of the backfield.

2. Rodney Anderson, RB, Oklahoma

Anderson filled the role Samaje Perine left a year ago and had his breakout year as a redshirt freshman with over 1,000 yards rushing and 13 scores. Now, with Baker Mayfield gone and Kyler Murray taking over at the quarterback position, look for Anderson to get even more attention. Like Hill, Anderson can be lethal as both a runner and as a receiver.

3-4. Will Grier & David Sills, QB & WR, West Virginia

The Florida transfer, Grier, tore it up last season in his first year as a Mountaineer. He threw for 3,490 yards, leading to 34 touchdowns. A lot of times, Sills was on the receiving end of those throws. His 18 receiving touchdowns were tied for tops in the nation. Expect nothing different from both of these men in their senior years.

5. Ben Banogu, DE, TCU

At 6-4, 249 pounds, Banogu is a freak athlete—and he can flat out play, too. He’s an absolute force to be reckoned with on the defensive line. Last year, he recorded 8.5 sacks and 55 tackles, earning himself All-Big 12 honors. He’s my guy to win the Big 12 Defensive Player of the Year award.

6. Kris Boyd, CB, Texas

If you're looking for a breakout guy on the defensive side of the ball for Texas, look no further than senior cornerback Kris Boyd. His numbers have steadily improved throughout his career in Austin, but his last season as a Longhorn is set up to be a big one. In 2017, Boyd was one of the leading tacklers for the Longhorns (55) but he only recorded two interceptions. With guys like Caden Sterns and BJ Foster in the mix, look for that number to increase as the secondary tightens up.
