Mike Gundy’s Top 10 Social Media Moments

Oklahoma State head coach Mike Gundy is, most recently, featured as a saxophone player of all things in arguably the greatest promotional marriage among multiple sports and Valentine’s Day that we, as a society, have ever seen.

That got us to thinking about Gundy’s spectacular run on social media over the past several years. He’s so good, so often, that it’s easy to forget about some of his brilliance. Let’s take a (ranked) walk down memory lane.

10. Training For UFC

This moment didn’t exactly go viral, but we’re suckers for sport-to-sport crossover — not to mention the thought of Johny Hendricks getting our boy trained up for UFC 223 or so.

9. The Central Michigan 'Loss'

Who can forget the Central Michigan saga and Gundy’s not-so-subtle spewing of venom in the direction of the game officials?

8. The Mullet Debuts At Big 12 Media Days

It’s no longer noteworthy, but, at the time, seeing Gundy’s glorious flow for the first time was one of college football’s summertime high points.

A long-since-forgotten bromance, the Gundy-Bieber ringtone swap was all the rage, serving as a sort of outro to the GOAT rant that put Gundy on the viral map.

Anyone surprised by Gundy’s level of comfort in the midst of a rattlesnake hunt must take up residence from nowhere near Stillwater, Oklahoma. Gundy is, in so many ways, the perfect man for the job at Oklahoma State.

But, of course. The press conference rant to which all other press conference rants will be compared until the end of time. YouTube was just 3 years old when Gundy emphatically proclaimed his age in support of OK State former quarterback Bobby Reid. Facebook was a baby. Even still, this incident was all-consuming and, quite frankly, served as the launching pad for Gundy’s fame as something more than just a football coach.
