UCF Planning Parade To Celebrate Mythical National Title
Central Florida will have a parade and hang a national championship banner after defeating Auburn in the Peach Bowl.
Central Florida beat Auburn in the Peach Bowl in Atlanta on Monday. Auburn beat both of the College Football Playoff's finalists — Georgia and Alabama — this season, so, naturally, UCF should be the national champion.
At least, that’s how Central Florida athletic director Danny White feels.
On Tuesday, White told ESPN’s Dan Le Batard that UCF should be considered the national champion after finishing the season as the first undefeated FBS team of the College Football Playoff era.
“Hopefully in the coming days, a lot more people will become believers, as well,” White said. “We’re going to continue to promote the fact that we feel like we’re deserving of a national championship."
So there’s that.
They are undefeated. And the team they just defeated did beat both of the teams that will be playing in Atlanta on Monday for the national title.
And, by god, if Oklahoma State can award itself the 1945 national championship, then the Knights can be 2017 champs of some sort. Sure.

Just maybe don’t go off the deep end with conspiracy theories about the playoff committee’s concerted effort to sabotage UCF. The Knights had the 77th-best strength of schedule and a grand total of one FPI top 25 win this year.

UCF is 2009 Boise State. UCF is 2004 Utah. Take a breath.
