In its fourth consecutive regional final, Brock looked every bit the part of a state title contender, jumping out to an early lead and pulling away in the second half to defeat Comanche 34-7 in the UIL Region 1-3A Division 1 title game on Friday.

The Eagles (12-2) got the party started with a 51-yard opening drive that was capped by Tripp Jones’ 39-yard touchdown pass to Landon Hoffman — who made an excellent move to shake the defender — and Brock led 7-0.

One possession later, it was Tanner Patino who struck from 56 yards out to give the Eagles a 13-0 lead.

Comanche (12-2) would answer on its next possession when Bronte Hermesmeyer found Trevor Higginbotham from seven yards out to cut the Brock advantage to 13-7.

Unfortunately for the Indians, that was as good as it would get.

Brock scored 21 unanswered points in the second half, including this spectacular touchdown run by Tripp Jones to hammer the nail into the coffin.

Brock rushed for 257 yards as a team and Jones threw only two passes. Patino ran for 114 yards on 15 carries.

The Eagles will face Kemp (13-1) in the state semifinals next week.
