While You Were Tailgating: 5 Things You Have To See From The Weekend

Five things you need to see from the past weekend of football, including a fan who lost his pants and a targeting penalty we've never seen before.

While You Were Tailgating: 5 Things You Have To See From The Weekend

The weekend gave us some great football — from one of the all-time great Bedlam games to a massive shake-up in the Big Ten. But while you were focused on that, you might've missed the fan who lost his pants or the world's weirdest targeting call.

That's what we're here for.

NAU’s QB Was Ejected For Targeting — Wait, What?

It’s true. Northern Arizona quarterback Case Cookus was ejected in the first quarter of Saturday’s 17-15 loss at Montana for this:

There’s no official word on whether or not Cookus is the first quarterback to be kicked out for targeting — but, let’s be real, Cookus is definitely the first quarterback to be kicked out for targeting.

It was a massive loss for the Lumberjacks, who entered the contest undefeated in the Big Sky and ranked sixth in the FCS in passing. Playing in the snow, backup Stone Smartt managed just 99 yards passing the rest of the way and the Grizzlies handed NAU its first league loss of the season.

Mark Richt Took A Bath

Tenth-ranked Miami faced, without question, its most talented opponent of the season on Saturday and passed the test with flying colors, knocking off No. 12 Virginia Tech 28-10. Afterwards, the Hurricanes elected not to dump a beverage all over head coach Mark Richt's head.

Or so he thought.

The element of surprise is everything.

Wazzu Won But A Fan Lost His Pants

Luke Falk found Jamire Calvin with an 11-yard touchdown pass to give No. 25 Washington State the lead late in its 24-21 win over No. 21 Stanford on Saturday. It was very exciting.

Clearly…

We’ve seen streakers, but this was a first.

Bradley Chubb, The Towel Bandit, Was At It Again

NC State defensive end Bradley Chubb steals his opponents’ towels sometimes. That’s his schtick.

On Saturday, with No. 4 Clemson in town, Chubb stole Tigers quarterback Kelly Bryant’s towel, not once, not twice, but three times in the No. 20 Wolfpack's 38-31 loss.

I honestly can’t decide if the whole thing is hilarious or obnoxious, but watching this moment wherein two 6-foot-4 grown adults are playing keep away with a dish rag is of the pretty hilarious variety.

Cam Dunked On A Guy

I don’t even know what else to say about this clip. Carolina Panthers quarterback Cam Newton just literally dunked on the Atlanta Falcons' Marcus Trufant. That is all.

Actual hooper Steph Curry took notice.

Later, Cam compared the Carolina Panthers to the Titanic — which, you know, sinks and stuff. Press conferences are quickly becoming his kryptonite. But, on the field, he’s still Superman.
