James Cook Commits To Georgia
James Cook commits to Georgia.
Another week, another blue chip commitment for Kirby Smart and the Georgia Bulldogs. The nation's third-ranked running back, James Cook, is headed for Athens, GA.
Cook, a Miami Central (FL) product, announced his decision via Twitter on Thursday, to the surprise of few. Though once committed to Florida State, James Cook-to-Georgia has long since been considered a likely result.
Georgia has a knack for pairing elite backs, most recently with Nick Chubb and Sony Michel sharing a backfield. The Bulldogs' coaching staff has similar plans for Cook and top-ranked running back Zamir White, who committed in June and plans to enroll early.
The duo has already often been referred to as "Thunder and Lightning" -- with Cook playing the role of Lightning. See for yourself, first with Cook playing the role of Lightning:
Followed by White bringing the Thunder (and even teammates aren't safe):
Cook, the younger brother of Minnesota Vikings running back Dalvin Cook, has elite speed and playmaking ability, which figures to pair perfectly with White's power. They will be joined at Georgia by quarterback Justin Fields, the No. 1 overall player in the class, with commitments expected from top-ranked guards Jamaree Salyer and Trey Hill.
In other words, it's a good time to be a Georgia Bulldog.
