While You Were Tailgating: 5 Things You Have To See From The Weekend
It was a fantastic few nights of football this past weekend... unless you're a USC fan. Anyway, I can't remember it all, and even if I could, I couldn't watch it all.

You can't either -- but that's what we're here for.

Here's what you missed while you were carving pumpkins.

Dawson's Homecoming Queen Kicked The Game-Winning FG

High school is going all right for Claire Jeffress.

Jeffress was named Dawson (Texas) High School's homecoming queen two weeks ago. On Friday, for an encore, she knocked home a 30-yard game-winning field goal in an overtime victory over Pearland.

The Bulldogs' heroine was also 5 for 5 on her point-after attempts and stars for the soccer team when she's not wearing a helmet and shoulder pads.

Taylor Ties An FBS Rushing Record

Wisconsin freshman Jonathan Taylor has quietly -- because that's how 'Sconny rolls -- been kind of awesome this season.

On three separate occasions, Taylor has eclipsed 200 rushing yards, including back-to-back 249-yard and 219-yard performances against Nebraska and Purdue, respectively. Taylor only managed 126 yards on 22 carries in the Badgers' 38-13 win over Maryland on Saturday -- but he only need 14 yards to hit the century mark.

The Salem (NJ) product -- who, believe it or not, was only a three-star prospect -- has now rolled up 1,112 rushing yards through seven games, matching the FBS record for fewest games needed by a freshman to get to four digits.

Charlotte's First Win Of The Season Was Worth The Wait

We thought Western Kentucky might be on upset alert a week ago when the Hilltoppers hosted winless Charlotte on homecoming. The Niners didn't yet have a win to show for their efforts this season but seemed to be trending in the right direction -- at least defensively.

At the time, quarterback Hasaan Klugh and running back Benny LeMay were both out -- and, well, it just didn't go well for the Niners in Bowling Green, KY.

But, ladies and gentlemen, the eighth time was quite the charm. The 49ers got their first victory of the season with this overtime play against UAB on Saturday:

Do yourself a favor and check out the full video that Charlotte Athletics put together. It really captures the drama.

Shoutout to Charlotte head coach Brad Lambert for displaying some serious courage and belief in his guys.

TCU Remains Unbeaten At Home When Ranked In The Top 10

The Horned Frogs played Kansas in primetime on Saturday night. That was not good news for the Jayhawks, whose ineptitude was on full display in a 43-0 loss.

Kansas managed 21 yards of total offense. And if you're thinking to yourself, "Wow, that seems historically bad," well, it is. According to ESPN Stats and Information, 21 yards of offense is the fewest recorded by a team in two decades. Rock Chalk also lost for the 44th consecutive time in a true road game, tying an 81-year-old mark.

Anyway, none of that's really the point.

The point is that TCU extended a streak of its own -- and this one doesn't suck at all. The Horned Frogs moved to 19-0 at Amon G. Carter Stadium when ranked in the AP top 10.

TCU still has a couple of potential pitfalls on the schedule -- most notably at suddenly solid Iowa State on Saturday and at Oklahoma on Nov. 11 -- but Horned Frogs quarterback Kenny Hill has been consistently impressive and his 15 passing touchdowns to just three interceptions have been a welcome change in the right direction from a season ago.

FAU Football: More Than Just An Intriguing Reality Show

When Florida Atlantic opened the season 1-3, with a three-point loss at Buffalo, Lane Kiffin and #ThefaU were taking a beating on the interwebs.

No one is laughing now.

The Owls hammered a North Texas team -- that just one week prior was the darling of Conference USA -- 69-31 for their third straight victory. FAU is unbeaten in C-USA, leads the league in scoring (39.1 points per game) and rushing (285.6 yards per game), and heads to Bowling Green to face Western Kentucky on Saturday.
