The best bets ATS for week 6 of the college football season.
Forget the Madden or Sports Illustrated curses. For four consecutive weeks, the team we've tied a pun to and stuck in the headline has lost.
Sorry, Purdue.
Everyone loves a good road trip. The calories don't count, the Instagram (or SnapChat, if you're still living over there) story potential is endless, and -- assuming your co-pilot is a good DJ -- the music situation is good-to-great.
So pack your white away uniform and some extra beef jerky, because we're not staying home at all this weekend.
No. 8 Washington State (-13.5) over CAL
Friday, Oct. 13 | 7:30 PM PT | Berkeley, CA (Memorial Stadium)
Wazzu has improved each week of the season and somehow managed to look even better on the road against Oregon than it did in a home win over Southern Cal the previous week. There's something about Mike Leach's docile-but-eccentric approach that just works.
After looking decent for four weeks and three quarters, Cal has been smacked by Oregon and Washington in back-to-back losses -- and that trend doesn't figure to do an about-face this week.
No. 10 Auburn (-7) over LSU
Saturday, Oct. 14 | 2:30 PM CT | Baton Rouge, LA (Tiger Stadium)
Congrats to LSU for finally putting another one in the win column with a road win at Florida -- but Auburn ain't Florida.
The Bayou Bengals can't move the ball against an average defense and Auburn's D -- led by former LSU defensive coordinator Kevin Steele -- is nasty. A 14-6 loss to Clemson is as respectable as it gets, and AU has been destroying folks since SEC play began.
This one could get real ugly down in the other Death Valley.
Purdue (+16.5) over No. 7 WISCONSIN
Saturday | 2:30 PM CT | Madison, WI (Camp Randall Stadium)
Look, Wisconsin is all right, but it's not three scores better than Purdue. The Boilermakers are 4-1 against the spread -- and they led at the half against Michigan as 13.5-point dogs before a pair of fourth-quarter touchdowns by the Wolverines did them in two weeks ago at home.
For whatever reason, Vegas just can't figure this team out.
If we were going man under with a single high safety this week, Purdue being gifted 16.5 points would be the pick. Of course, there's the whole headline curse thing going on, so take that for whatever it's worth.
Texas A&M (+3) over FLORIDA
Saturday | 7 PM ET | Gainesville, FL (Ben Hill Griffin Stadium)
Why is Florida getting any points against anybody? The Gators could easily be 1-4 -- like, it's actually crazier that they're somehow 3-2 considering the way they beat both Tennessee and Kentucky.
Texas A&M, on the other hand, looked as good as a team can look against Alabama these days, and the Aggies have quietly rebounded rather nicely from that absolute disaster of a season opener.
Oh, and also this:

Halloween's not for another couple of weeks, Florida. Get a grip.
