Tarleton State Football Remains No. 1 After Narrow Escape

For the third consecutive poll, Tarleton State sits atop the FCS rankings.

The Texans needed a late touchdown to preserve their undefeated season against Eastern Kentucky. Trailing 24-21 with less than two minutes remaining, quarterback Kaden Anderson connected with B.J. Fleming for a 25-yard touchdown to secure a 28-24 victory.

Anderson threw for 351 yards and two touchdowns as Tarleton improved to 9-0.

Stephen F. Austin also remains undefeated at 9-0 after defeating Houston Christian 37-6, keeping the pressure on the Texans at the top of the poll.

South Dakota Falls Four Spots After Rivalry Loss

South Dakota State strengthened its position among the FCS contenders with a 31-21 victory over South Dakota.

The Jackrabbits built a 28-0 advantage before the Coyotes mounted a fourth-quarter comeback, cutting the deficit to seven points. A late South Dakota State field goal secured the victory.

South Dakota State remains No. 5, while South Dakota falls to No. 10 with a 7-3 record.

The Coyotes have now gone more than two decades without a victory in Brookings, with their last road win over the Jackrabbits coming in 2000.

UAlbany Climbs As Campbell Falls In The North

The CAA continues to make its presence felt in the national rankings, with Monmouth, Campbell and UAlbany all inside the top 20.

Monmouth moves up three spots to No. 14 after beating Bryant 34-21, improving to 7-2 overall and 6-0 in CAA play.

UAlbany made one of the week's biggest jumps, climbing from No. 25 to No. 20 following its 45-35 victory over Campbell.

The Great Danes scored two defensive touchdowns and held off a late Campbell comeback to improve to 6-3.

Campbell drops four spots to No. 19 after suffering its first conference defeat.
