Northwood vs. Ashland Football: Series History

Ashland has historically dominated its rivalry with Northwood, leading the all-time series 27-13-1 entering Saturday's matchup.
The Eagles have won each of the last three meetings, including a 21-13 victory in Midland, Michigan, on Sept. 27, 2025. Ashland held Northwood to just six points through the first three quarters, handing the Timberwolves their first loss of the season.
The previous meeting in 2024 was even closer. Ashland escaped with a 9-7 victory after a fourth-quarter field goal broke a defensive stalemate. A year earlier, the Eagles cruised to a 35-3 victory.
Northwood now enters Saturday's matchup undefeated at 8-0, looking to end a three-game losing streak against Ashland and take another step toward a perfect regular season.
Northwood Football Survives Last-Second Thriller To Stay Undefeated

Northwood's perfect season nearly ended in dramatic fashion last Saturday.
The Timberwolves trailed Ohio Dominican 35-34 with just 32 seconds remaining after Panthers quarterback Carson Parker scored on a 12-yard touchdown run.
Northwood quarterback Ethan Hamby quickly moved the offense into field goal range, setting up kicker Drew Cady for a 43-yard attempt.
Cady delivered as time expired, giving the Timberwolves a 37-35 victory and preserving their undefeated season.
Hamby finished with 434 passing yards and two touchdowns, completing 39 of his 53 attempts. Northwood generated 593 yards of total offense despite turning the ball over three times.
The narrow escape was a reminder that even an undefeated team can be vulnerable.
Northwood now faces an Ashland defense that has allowed just 10 points over its last two games.
Ashland Football Finds Its Rhythm Ahead Of Northwood Matchup

Ashland's 3-5 record doesn't tell the whole story entering Saturday.
After a difficult start to the season, the Eagles have won consecutive games in convincing fashion, defeating Thomas More 48-10 before shutting out Kentucky Wesleyan 56-0.
Freshman quarterback Coy Hamic threw for 276 yards and three touchdowns against Kentucky Wesleyan, while receiver D.J. Harvey caught seven passes for 122 yards and a score.
The defense was equally impressive.
Ashland held Kentucky Wesleyan to just four rushing yards and forced four interceptions, including touchdown returns by Deon Solomon and Trevor Johnson.
The Eagles have outscored their last two opponents 104-10, a significant turnaround for a team that entered October struggling to find consistency.
Now comes a much tougher test against an undefeated Northwood team featuring one of the most productive passing offenses in Division II.
Players To Watch: Northwood vs. Ashland

Ethan Hamby, QB, Northwood
Hamby enters Saturday after one of his most productive performances of the season.
The Northwood quarterback threw for 434 yards and two touchdowns against Ohio Dominican, helping engineer the last-second drive that kept the Timberwolves undefeated.
He also threw three touchdowns in Northwood's 34-11 victory over Findlay earlier this season.
Hamby's ability to move the ball through the air will be critical against Ashland's defense.
Drew Cady, K, Northwood
Cady delivered Northwood's biggest kick of the season against Ohio Dominican.
With the Timberwolves trailing by one point, he connected from 43 yards as time expired to secure the 37-35 victory.
Cady finished the game perfect on three field goal attempts, including a 42-yarder in the third quarter.
Coy Hamic, QB, Ashland
Hamic has helped spark Ashland's recent offensive turnaround.
The freshman threw for 276 yards and three touchdowns in the Eagles' 56-0 victory over Kentucky Wesleyan, connecting with multiple receivers as Ashland built a commanding lead.
He'll face a difficult challenge against a Northwood defense that has been among the nation's most productive throughout the season.
D.J. Harvey, WR, Ashland
Harvey has emerged as a key target in Ashland's passing game.
The receiver caught seven passes for 122 yards and a touchdown against Kentucky Wesleyan, including a 31-yard scoring reception in the third quarter.
Harvey's ability to create big plays could be important if Ashland hopes to keep pace with Northwood's offense.
