D2 Football Rankings 2026: Slippery Rock Climbs, Valdosta State Surges Into Top 20

Ferris State stays No. 1 in the 2026 D2 football rankings as Grand Valley State falls to No. 15, Michigan Tech climbs and Davenport remains unbeaten.

The Anchor-Bone Classic absolutely delivered, giving D2 football fans one of the best games of the season so far. Ferris State and Wyatt Bower once again showed why they are the best team in all of the land. 

GVSU, meanwhile, lost their second game in a row after losing to Michigan Tech last week. In spite of that, I think the rankings actually aren't as harsh as they could've been, moving the Lakers down only two spots to No. 15. Is it justifiable that they could defeat every team behind them in the top 25? Sure. 

MTU took their spot at No. 12, while Davenport continues their unbeaten season, landing at No. 9. 

Findlay pulled out a big win over Hillsdale to sit at No. 13, while Central Washington surged back into the Top 25 after a few weeks away. Elsewhere, Slippery Rock continues to dominate, working their way up to No. 5, and Valdosta State is back into the Top 20, moving up six spots to No. 16.
