With only a month of conference play remaining, the CAA football race is starting to get serious.
Monmouth enters Week 8 as the only team at 4-0 in conference play after beating UNH, but the Hawks don't have much room for error. Campbell and Bryant are right behind them at 3-0, while several other teams remain within striking distance.

The race is getting national attention, too. Campbell and Monmouth continue to climb the FCS polls, while Bryant and UAlbany are receiving votes as the conference heads into a crucial stretch of the season.
Week 8 brings several games that could shake up the standings. Here are the CAA football matchups to watch.
RV UAlbany vs. RV Rhode Island - 12 p.m. ET
UAlbany is riding a two-game winning streak after beating Stony Brook 48-31 to take back the Golden Apple trophy.
BJ Norman caught three touchdown passes in the win, Rahshan La Mons rushed for 134 yards and two touchdowns, and Victor Holt intercepted two passes. The Great Danes piled up 483 yards of offense in one of their best performances of the season.
Rhode Island, meanwhile, is starting to find its footing after a difficult start to the season. The Rams have won two straight, including a Week 7 victory over Yale.
This year could be turning into a breakthrough season for UAlbany, but Rhode Island has started to build some momentum of its own.
No. 13/16 Campbell vs. Maine - 1 p.m. ET
Campbell continues to prove why it belongs near the top of the CAA standings.
The Camels improved to 6-1 overall and 3-0 in conference play with a 24-20 win over Towson. Kamden Sixkiller completed 20 of 30 passes for 224 yards and a touchdown as Campbell survived a game in which Towson actually outgained the Camels 442-337.
Maine enters at 1-6 after suffering a narrow loss to Bryant in Week 7. The Black Bears forced two turnovers and stayed within striking distance, but Bryant escaped with the win.
Maine hosts Campbell for Homecoming and will need some of that Homecoming magic to knock off one of the hottest teams in the CAA.
No. 19/18 Monmouth vs. Hampton - 2 p.m. ET
Monmouth leads the CAA with a perfect 4-0 conference record and enters Week 8 on a four-game winning streak.
The Hawks rolled past UNH 42-21 in Week 7 behind a dominant rushing attack. Quarterback Frankie Weaver completed 16 of 25 passes for 195 yards and two touchdowns, while Kenny Smith Jr. rushed for a career-high 175 yards and two scores.
Monmouth finished with 521 yards of total offense, including 326 rushing yards, while controlling possession for more than 38 minutes.
Hampton, meanwhile, has been working through a difficult stretch and enters the matchup on a six-game losing streak after falling to Sacred Heart in Week 7.
Monmouth has won each of the first five meetings between the programs. The Hawks will look to make it six straight while protecting their spot atop the CAA standings.
Stony Brook vs. Bryant - 2 p.m. ET
Stony Brook is coming off a tough loss to UAlbany in the Battle for the Golden Apple. The Seawolves trailed by only three points at halftime before UAlbany scored 28 points in the second half to pull away.
Despite the loss, Stony Brook remains in the conference race at 2-1.
Bryant has been one of the CAA's biggest surprises this season and enters Week 8 tied with Campbell at 3-0 in conference play. The Bulldogs narrowly escaped Maine in Week 7 to remain unbeaten against CAA opponents.
This might be the most important CAA game of the weekend. Bryant can remain perfect in conference play, while Stony Brook has a chance to hand the Bulldogs their first CAA loss and jump right back into the title race.
UNH vs. Merrimack - 12 p.m. ET
UNH took a hard hit against Monmouth last weekend and now gets a break from CAA play with a trip to Merrimack.
The Wildcats trailed 28-0 at halftime against Monmouth before showing some life after the break. Tommy McLeish completed 13 of 19 passes for 178 yards and a touchdown, while UNH scored all 21 of its points in the second half.
Defensively, Trevor Barry recorded 20 tackles and Jackson Stone added 16 as the Wildcats spent much of the afternoon trying to slow Monmouth's rushing attack.
Merrimack enters the matchup at 2-5, giving UNH an opportunity to regroup before returning to CAA play.
