The Erskine Flying Fleet head south to face one of Division II football's most successful programs when they take on Valdosta State on Oct. 3.

The matchup pits an Erskine team looking to bounce back from a conference loss against a Valdosta State squad that enters the game with a 3-1 record and returns home after its first loss of the season. The game is part of FloCollege's Week 5 lineup and will stream live on FloCollege.

Erskine Looking To Rebound

Erskine enters the game with a 2-2 record after a 31-24 loss to Shorter last weekend. The Flying Fleet trailed by 28 points in the second half before mounting a comeback that fell just short. Quarterback Ryan Killmer threw two touchdown passes during the rally, while Reid Giles returned a kickoff for a touchdown.

The loss dropped Erskine to 0-1 in Conference Carolinas play, but the Flying Fleet have already surpassed their entire win total from last season with victories over Bluefield University and Thomas University.

Valdosta State Football Returns Home

Valdosta State enters Week 5 at 3-1 after opening the season with victories over Emory & Henry, Warner and Fayetteville State before falling 44-41 to UNC Pembroke.

The Blazers have averaged more than 40 points per game through their first four contests and are returning to Bazemore-Hyder Stadium for the first time since Sept. 3.

Valdosta State is one of the most decorated programs in Division II football history, claiming national championships in 2004, 2007, 2012 and 2018.

Series History

The teams met in 2024, with Valdosta State earning a 73-0 victory. The Oct. 3 matchup will be the second meeting between the programs.

What's At Stake

For Erskine, the game serves as a chance to earn a signature road win before returning to conference play. For Valdosta State, it is an opportunity to get back in the win column and build momentum heading into the second half of the season.
