Both teams enter the matchup searching for momentum after challenging starts to the 2026 season. The conference opener presents an opportunity for each program to reset as league play begins.

Saint Anselm Looking For First Victory

The Hawks enter the contest at 0-3 after losses to Lake Erie College, Bentley and Franklin Pierce. Saint Anselm has averaged 16.3 points per game while allowing 46.3 points per contest through its first three outings.

Despite the record, the Hawks have shown the ability to move the ball through the air. Saint Anselm is averaging 194.3 passing yards per game and has totaled 583 passing yards this season.

Running back Jermaine Sheppherd Jr. has been a bright spot for the offense, leading the team with 130 rushing yards and a touchdown through three games.

Pace Seeking Bounce-Back Performance

Pace enters the game after a 34-27 road loss to Assumption last week. The Setters battled throughout the contest and remained within one score late in the fourth quarter before falling short.

Pace comes into the matchup with a 1-2 record, but the Setters have been competitive against strong opposition. They opened the season with a 37-26 loss to East Stroudsburg before bouncing back with a 53-7 victory over Monroe-New Rochelle.

Series History Favors The Hawks

Historically, Saint Anselm has enjoyed success in the matchup. The Hawks own 18 victories against Pace, the most wins they have against any opponent in program history.

What To Watch

The matchup could hinge on whether Saint Anselm can slow opposing rushing attacks. Through three games, the Hawks have allowed more than 240 rushing yards per contest.

On the other side, Pace will look to capitalize on a Saint Anselm defense that has struggled to generate takeaways, while the Hawks will aim to reduce turnovers and create more balance offensively.
