Sarcasm aside, this weekend’s football slate is pretty stacked, and there are three games I’m especially excited for.
Wayne State vs UW-La Crosse
A D2/D3 crossover - are you kidding me? Of course I’m watching.
It’s not often you see an in-season D2/D3 matchup. It’s even less often you see the D3 school upset its D2 opponent. However, this might just happen on Saturday as Wayne State (MI) Football, a D2 team in the GLIAC, hosts D3 WIAC opponent UW-La Crosse Football.

Azusa Pacific vs Whittier
Two first-year programs will duke it out in one of their first SCIAC matchups of the season.
Whittier College Football is fresh off a compelling 56-20 home win versus Cetys University on Sept. 12. Azusa Pacific Football returns home after a bye week, following a 3-30 loss at SCIAC opponent La Verne on Sept. 5.
Both teams have nothing to lose and a whole lot to prove.
Chapman vs. Linfield
Technically, I won’t be tuning in to this game, but I will be watching it from the best seat in the house - from the sidelines.
This SCIAC-NWC crossover is one that will capture the attention of many. In the 2025 faceoff, Linfield was victorious in a 28-13 decision, holding Chapman scoreless in the second half.
However, with nearly 40 returning seniors, a chip on their shoulders and a 2025 SCIAC Championship title, this game will be much more competitive, and I could see the W being handed to the Panthers.
