Three weeks into the D2 football season and the back half of the Top 25 having fallen away like level 29 of Tetris.
If we look back only a few weeks ago, did we really know that Pitt State would be 0-3? Did we know Virginia Union would hit rock-bottom and then crawl back into the rankings? Did we know SAC would continue to be the most chaotic D2 football conference in America? Yes, to the last one.

- Northwest Missouri State Rolls Past Texas A&M-Kingsville 48-3
The top end of the rankings are still buoyed by Ferris State, Harding, but Kutztown has been supplanted from it's normal spot by CSU Pueblo and Minnesota State, but they still round out the top 5.
Elsewhere, Western Oregon, Northwood, Carson-Newman continue to build on their successful 2025 showings. At No. 12 Northeastern State, who are technically Independent, look like a force to be reckoned with after starting 3-0, though they did need OT to defeat Truman State last weekend. There are also some teams have have recovered from less-than-ideal 2024 seasons, as Valdosta, Slippery Rock, and Indiana (PA) have all started undefeated.
