Kutztown Makes Statement In Season-Opening Win Over Assumption

Kutztown found its stride after a fast start from Assumption, as Judd Novak and Jaedyn Stewart powered the Golden Bears to a 56-35 season-opening win.

The Greyhounds scored on their first play from scrimmage and twice held a seven-point lead in the first quarter, but the Golden Bears eventually found their footing and then some. Kutztown scored 28 unanswered points on its way to a 56-35 win at Brian Kelly Stadium in Worcester, Mass.

Judd Novak was at the center of it, throwing for 267 yards and four touchdowns. Jaedyn Stewart did a little bit of everything, catching two touchdowns and rushing for two more as Kutztown's offense put 56 points on the board.

Assumption never completely went away. Dom Santiago finished with 343 passing yards, three touchdowns through the air and two more on the ground, helping the Greyhounds cut the lead to 14 twice in the second half.

But every time Assumption made a push, Kutztown had an answer.

    The Greyhounds played well, but the Kutztown Golden Bears dropped 56 points in their first game of the season. Judd Novak went 18-30, passing for 267 yards and four touchdowns. 

    Jaedyn Stewart caught two TDs and rushed for two more. Assumption's Dom Santiago had a massive game, as he threw for 343 yards, three passing touchdowns and two rushing touchdowns.
