Longtime Susquehanna Football head coach Tom Perkovich announced his departure for UAlbany Football in November 2025 after 10 seasons with the River Hawks, leaving the program without a leader.
The university hired Chris Pincince to take his place. The former New Haven Football coach had 10 winning seasons of his own with the Chargers before they parted ways with him. After one season as an assistant coach at Post, Pincince is back with a head coach's headset on.
So what changes are coming to Susquehanna under Pincince?
The Transfer Portal Brings Massive Changes To Susquehanna's Roster
Susquehanna’s offense will look entirely different in the 2026-2027 season. Landmark Conference Offensive Player of the Year in 2025 Josh Ehrlich is gone, with the standout quarterback transferring to University of North Carolina at Pembroke.
He ended the 2025 season with 32 touchdowns and just 2 interceptions while throwing for over 2,800 yards.
Additionally, 2024 All-American running back Rashon La Mons followed Perkovich to Albany, leaving a gap of 2,518 yards and 30 touchdowns over two seasons.
Seven River Hawks in total left the program to pursue opportunities leaving an active quarterback battle and the opportunity for multiple skill position players to step up and make an impact.
The River Hawks defense is still led by Gavin Limantour, who is one of the best defensive linemen in D3 football. Susquehanna will need to lean on its defense to replicate the success of recent years.
What Does Susquehanna's Schedule Look Like? Can They Continue Their Landmark Dominance?
Susquehanna starts off the 2026 college football season with three consecutive road games, but they’ll likely be favored against Union College and Bridgewater College.
Week 3 brings the real test, when the River Hawks travel to face Johns Hopkins, FloCollege’s No. 4 team in the Way-Too-Early 2026 Rankings.
The River Hawks begin conference play against Catholic University live on FloCollege before going through the Landmark gauntlet and ending their season against Juniata College.
Susquehanna joined the Landmark Conference for football in 2023 and still has yet to lose a conference game in three seasons.
Despite losing Perkovich, Susquehanna is going to be favored to run through the conference again. The Landmark coaches poll voted the River Hawks as the No. 1 team, but by a much closer margin than in previous years.
Landmark Conference Coaches Poll
- Susquehanna River Hawks — 34 points (4 first-place votes)
- Lycoming Warriors — 30 points (2 first-place votes)
- Wilkes Colonels — 29 points (1 first-place vote)
- WestConn Wolves — 20 points
- Catholic Cardinals — 14 points
- Moravian Greyhounds — 13 points
- Juniata Eagles — 7 points
It’s going to be a tough task for Pincince and the River Hawks to continue their dominant streak in the Landmark Conference, but Pincince has a proven track record in college football and a team still returning multiple key starters.
Susquehanna still has arguably the best roster and culture in the Landmark, and one of the best in Division III football.
