It's a new season for the Mountain East Conference, and there's plenty of intrigue across the nine programs vying for the conference title.

Frostburg State is coming off it's best season in the Eric Wagoner era, winning 11 games and winning two playoff games. Led by RB Owen Doyle, they'll try to win back-to-back conference titles.

Former Glenville State coach Mike Kellar has moved to conference foe West Virginia Wesleyan. It'll be worth watching how both teams adjust to life with new coaching staffs and rosters.

With these storylines in the MEC, here's what fans need to know in the 2026 college football season.

New Era At West Virginia Wesleyan University

West Virginia Wesleyan enters the 2026 season under new head coach Mike Kellar, who arrives after seven seasons at Glenville State and an 87-63 record. 

Kellar inherits a program looking to rebound after a winless 2025 campaign and has already brought a new coaching staff and a large recruiting class to help accelerate the Bobcats' rebuild. 

Can Kellar turn around the success at VWU?
