Grand Valley State football has turned the page into a new offensive era with the announcement that Eli Reinhart will serve as the Lakers’ offensive coordinator and quarterback coach beginning with the 2026 season. Head coach Scott Wooster officially introduced Reinhart on January 29, 2026, highlighting his dynamic offensive philosophy and fit within the Lakers’ championship-driven culture.

Reinhart comes to Grand Valley State with a résumé built on explosive offenses and rapid program turnarounds. Most recently, he served as head coach at Hutto High School in Texas for the 2025 season, where he led the Hippos to a 9–3 record — the most wins for the program since 2019 and the school’s first playoff victory in six years. During that season, his offense led the Austin area’s Class 6A in scoring (41.0 points per game) and total yardage (479.3 yards per game), earning him statewide acclaim as one of Dave Campbell’s Top 10 first-year coaches in Texas high school football.

Before his time at Hutto, Reinhart spent three seasons as offensive coordinator and assistant head coach at North Crowley High School, where the Panthers dominated with a 42–2 record and captured the 2024 Texas 6A Division I State Championship. Reinhart’s units set Dallas-Fort Worth scoring records, tallying 864 points in a single season and displaying an offense both prolific and balanced — a formula he aims to bring to Allendale.

Coach Wooster emphasized Reinhart’s potential impact, saying the Lakers sought an “aggressive, explosive and physical system” that could maximize offensive talent and get the ball into the hands of its best playmakers — a vision Reinhart embodies.

GVSU Football Performance in 2025

The Lakers closed out the 2025 campaign with a 7–3 overall record and a 5–2 mark in GLIAC play, ending the season strong with a 69–13 victory over Roosevelt on November 15. This win highlighted an offense capable of explosive scoring while maintaining consistency throughout the season.

Statistically, GVSU’s offense in 2025 was one of the most productive in recent years. The Lakers posted 404.9 yards of total offense per game, with a balanced attack producing 1,600 rushing yards and 2,667 passing yards over the ten-game slate. The team averaged 37.5 points per game, while the defense held opponents to 18.2 points per contest.

GVSU’s 2025 performance set the stage for further improvement heading into 2026, especially with a revamped offensive leadership under Reinhart and continued growth from key contributors on both sides of the ball.
