Week 9 of the NCAA football season has come and gone, and just like that we are officially in the last two weeks of the regular season in college football.

In the Lone Star conference, it seems like chaos always finds a way to shake things up amongst the schools. From big wins, nail biters and teams desperately looking for a playoff spot in the final weeks, Week 9 was nothing short of a roller coaster.

With games on FloCollege in the weekend of action on Nov. 8, here’s a look at what is going on in the LSC and some predictions about who could win it all this week.

Rounding Up A Recap: Top Moments From Week 9

With Week 9 being full of action all across the LSC, here are some of the top points that fans should know about.

  • UT Permian Basin is back on its winning ways after defeating Western New Mexico, 66-7. This was the biggest LSC victory in Week 9.
  • Western Oregon continues to make their presence known in the LSC and in the D2 conversation as they pick up another LSC win over Midwestern State
  • West Texas A&M squared off against Texas A&M Kingsville for a clash of the A&M system schools. The Buffs held on in a tight contest to secure a 53-48 victory.
  • Eastern New Mexico and Sul Ross State squared off on Nov. 1. These two teams have struggled in the 2025 season, but the matchup was one of the best as the Greyhounds held on to claim a 40-34 victory.
  • The final contest in Week 9 saw the Central Washington Wildcats and the Angelo State Rams go head-to-head. In one of the most anticipated matchups of the week, the contest looked like Central Washington was going to take a lead and run. The Rams were able to find a late spark and make it a game. The Wildcats still remained the victor with a 38-21 win.

LSC Players of The Week

In the Lone Star conference, players are rewarded for their efforts weekly from the previous week’s contest. This week, the LSC players of the week in Offense, Defense and Special Teams each contributed greatly to their teams. Here’s a more detailed look at these players of the week!

Offense

The LSC Offensive Player Of The Week is awarded to the player who helped to ensure a tight victory over Texas A&M Kingsville in Week 9. RJ Martinez nabs the LSC offensive player of the week title after his performance in the contest on Nov. 1.

The Graduate Student quarterback has started every game at the helm of the Buffs offense. In the victory over the Javelinas, Marienz was 30-for-39 on pass completion with 400 yards and five passing touchdowns. The quarterback was also credited with 48 rushing yards and one rushing touchdown.

Marinez currently tops the LSC in passing performance and is a major part in why the Buffs are third in the conference in offense. This the the third LSC Offensive Player Of The Week Award for RJ Martinez

Defense

The Lone Star Conference Defensive Player Of The Week is another member in helping to secure a Week 9 victory for the WTAMU Buffs. Jamel Acosta-Lewis nabs the defensive award after his performance in the contest against the Javelinas.

The junior defensive back and safety had a stellar performance in the contest on Nov. 1 Acosta-Lewis nabbed two critical interceptions for the Buffs in the fourth quarter. The safety also had seven total tackles in the contest, two of which were solo. Acosta-Lewis also had two pass breakups in the victory.

Special Teams

The LSC Special Teams Player of the week comes from the other close-knit game in conference action on Nov. 1. David Weber for the Central Washington Wildcats seals this accolade after his performance against Angelo State.

The junior kicker from Sweden, picked up the honor after tallying eight points in the contest against the Rams. Weber was 5-for-5 on PATs in the contest and recorded a 31-yard field goal to seal the victory for the Wildcats.

Weber currently leads the conference in kicking with 9 field goals on the season.

Week 7 Predictions

Like all NCAA D2 football games, it is mostly a toss-up until the clock runs out, but here are some predictions for how these five LSC matchups will shape up in Week 10.

The Buffs and the Mustangs are going to be a tough fight. Both of these teams have had their own struggles in the 2025 season. However, the Buffs just had two players named to the LSC players of the week accolades and have been more complete as of late. The Buffs should take a victory.

The Rams and the Wolves are also a matchup that could potentially see overtime. As much as the Rams need a win, especially to close out the home season, Western Oregon has been on a tear recently. The Wolves are gritty and could very easily snap a losing streak to ASU. The Wolves will snap a five-game losing streak and upset the Rams.

Eastern New Mexico and UTPB should be a game that the Falcons walk away from with an easy victory. Gibson has proved he can do it all on the offensive side of the football if necessary. The Falcons also have one of the top defenses in the conference.

Central Washington is undefeated in the LSC for a reason and this week is no different. The Wildcats will walk away with a victory over Sul Ross.

Texas A&M Kingsville and Western New Mexico could also be a closer contest in the LSC. However, Jack Turner has put up decent numbers recently and has the defense to back it up, unlike Connor Ackerley and his great offensive season. Western New Mexico’s defense has struggled to back up Ackerley and because of this, Texas A&M Kingsville will walk away victorious.

With five games on the docket for the LSC on Saturday, Nov. 8, make sure you are tuned in to FloColege to catch all of the action.
